$84,500, Loc. South Florida, Possibly the sharpest Raven Model S LR+! only 4,900 miles, just purchased January 2021, 6 months new, 403 mile range, Blue with silver 21" Arachnids, red calipers, carbon fiber spoiler, aluminum pedals, Raven suspension, full one pedal driving to a stop. I own a couple other new Performance Teslas and this car looks and feels virtually identical but gets far more range, black interior, AutoPilot, newest hardware with noise generator. Only Supercharged one time while driving home from Tesla after delivery. Posted on Facebook marketplace this weekend and accepted an offer from a Dealer in Maine but not sure if I trust them not to drag out deal. Turned down some really good local Florida offers above the big dealer buyers and unfortunately deleted their FB messages😳, so back for sale today, may just sell to AutoNation for pretty close to asking price with no hassles if nobody steps up.

A brand new, refreshed Model S is less than this (maybe the same price with the wheels and the paint option).

Are people really paying these prices?

Don't point out the obvious here otherwise someone will give you a hard time for it. LOL!

Used market is REALLY strong and Tesla has a 2018 LR listed for $87,100 so I imagine OP will get something close to what he wants for it.

Yes.…people are paying these prices. I have a few offers very close to asking already, and those are from the big dealers. Tesla gave a ridiculously low offer but they then resell for way more money. A new order available next year would be about $6,000-$8,000 more with the paint, wheels, then plus ceramic coat, add ones like the OEM spoiler, Red calipers and delivery. The new Long Range cars will likely not be available until after the New Year unless you have already ordered one and then only slightly sooner because they are building the $130-$140k Performance cars first.

I’m getting ready to sell this 6 month old model S to a dealer. The smaller dealers who have made really good offers say they are just going to run it through auction and clear somewhere between 5,000 to 7500. I can’t believe nobody on here is willing to pay as much as a dealer will but will then turn around and pay more later.

I can't believe a dealer thinks they can sell ABOVE the current price at auction. There must be a lot of "dumb" people out there... people on this site probably want at least what appears to be a good deal, and a few thousand away from brand new (and next gen) is probably a hard sale here.

On the plus side, just go with the dealer, sounds quick and easy compared to someone here kicking the tires first and maybe trying to talk you down a few thousand.

One issue to consider is if this Model S has the FSD option?

If so, I believe that the only way to transfer it is to sell directly to a third party.
Otherwise Tesla will remove it when sold to a dealer and then to a customer.

They don’t have to wonder because they already know, auction prices are very well documented and the dealers offering to buy at the higher numbers specifically sell lots of Teslas at auction. One big draw is how good this 6 month old S looks and that Tesla currently sells Raven S’s for as much as the new Long Range S’s and they can’t keep them more than a day or two. Anyone that thinks you can order a new LR and get it anytime soon doesn’t know the way Tesla operates. l wouldn’t sell it but I still have two other very late model S’s and I can get about what I paid 6 months ago when it was new. I’ll buy another in a year when the LR is in full production and wait times become realistic.

I was very close to buying used but my wife is encouraging me to have the new car experience at least once in my life. Living in FL, I really did want a sunroof so the new car is a bit of a tradeoff as my current car does have a sunroof.

I justified buying brand new comparing the MS to an iPhone. With all the latest tech and innovation buying used is like buying an XR…great phone but for me if I can get the latest and greatest (i12) then I will. My current car is in fantastic shape and I can wait for my delivery so this is a total toy/want and I’m enjoying all the conversations and hype over the yoke, Plaid vs. LR debate as well as the new screen layout.

However, being in this community makes me want a Tesla even more so if I don’t get my refresh by December then I will get a used one. The concern on a used one is the limited supply and unknowns of buying a used car on the internet (smoker, dog owner, poor charging habits, etc.). Plus the loan rates for a new car vs. used car also make the case for buying new as well (similar payment for $85K used vs. 100K+ new.

I know I’m a little all over the place but hopefully it demonstrates that I gave this issue much consideration.

Used cars are indeed going for as much as new cars right now. Model S's have a long wait right now.

Tesla is selling a 2018 P100D ludicrous w/ 20k miles for 108,000 right now. Thats 30k+ more than a new refreshed Model S

The only reason I’m selling the 6 month old LR Plus S is because the values are so good. I’ve even been considering selling one or two of my year old Performance S’s and then buying another when they start regular deliveries next year. Point is the SR S’s will realistically not get delivered until next year and there is no guarantee of the wait for a $140-$150k. Elon has been saying beginning of this year for initial delivery’s and then later in the year for regular S’s and we can see how that has gone so that puts it well off still
