I find the Model 3 has 5 bluetooth connection with my Phone, one is traditional bluetooth connection for music/data, 4 are Bluetooth 4.0 BLE which is always on, why Model 3 is using 4 individual bluetooth BLE connection is beyond my understanding, any thoughts? btw, if switch Model 3 profile to Model S, or simply delete the bluetooth connection with Model 3 will make those BLE connection disappear.
Those BLE connections are for the phone-as-key feature. Maybe there are 4, because there are 4 BLE devices around the car to detect the location of the phone - similar as to how it's done for a regular key fob on the Model S, where there are multiple antennas.
Plausible that they're using multiple BLE devices to more accurately triangulate & calculate time of flight, so they can make the unlock and lock actions happen at more acceptable distances, or even be configurable, as well as not aggressively capture bluetooth audio signals and start playing too early, etc.
I wonder also if this may have something to do with any of the onboard systems. They're still connected even though I'm in my home. Phantom Drain?
