what happens if you just never connect to wifi? theres plenty of cars out there living in a parking garage with no wifi access...

May be after a certain time has elapsed, the data just gets wiped? I suppose Tesla don't need to worry as long as they get enough data from somewhere.

There is a setting to opt out of data gathering in car's menu.

They also collect crashdumps if software crashed (happens very often), but this is boring so we will not explore it here. Now the other fixture of fixed events is "autopilot trip logs" - these are ALWAYS collected. Yes, even if you opt out of data collection 7/
