AC running for now reason

I went out to my garage at 11:30pm last night to find my car making a weird vibrating noise and a lot of heat coming off of the front end. I looked inside the car and it was all dark.

I went and got my keys and got in the car and it was very cold and the AC was running. When I turned the AC off the noise went away - so I suspect that was what was causing the noise.

Why would the car that was idle for 3 hours in the garage mysteriously start running the AC? Has anybody else ever noticed this?

I vaguely remember something similar happening. In my case, I hadn't shut the driver's door all the way, so the car was still "on".

Do you have "Smart" Preconditioning enabled?
