Anyone know how to, or been successful at, adding a referral code after placing an order? Ordered a Model 3 Performance on 7/9/18 and want to add a referral code so the referrer can get a free wall charger.
I called about this today. Answer (received later via e-mail):
With regard to the referral you were wanting to add to your order, regrettably we only have a 48 hour time frame where we have the functionality of adding a referral code once an order has been placed. Since we are outside this time frame, we are unable to add the referral code to this order.

I responded back to the Service Support Specialist I spoke with, asking:
I hope Telsa might reconsider a one-time exception to that policy, since, until August 1st, it wasn’t possible (to my knowledge) to order a model 3 through a referral, only model S and X. Had I been able to when I ordered in June, I would have used the referral code.
I haven't received a response. Will post if/when I do.
I called and after a few rounds of being put on hold while the rep (located in Utah she said) continued to check on how to do it was finally given the answer that since I had already configured that only my DA can add a referral code. I pressed a little bit, while at the same time not trying to be a jerk about it, saying that just seems odd that only a DA and nobody else can add this piece of data to my order. She just repeated what apparently someone else had told her while I was on hold that the DA will happily do it when they reach out to me. :|
A little insight -- the folks in Utah appear to be contractors. There was a postal address in the signature of a customer support message I received today, and it listed "12832 Frontrunner Blvd, Draper, UT". If you dig a little, you'll see this is actually CSS Corp (CSS Corp | Global Leaders in IT Services & Tech Support Solutions), which is an outsourced tech support company. I suspect they have limited access to Tesla's systems, whereas the DA's are Tesla employees (and, hence, have useful access).
