Hi folks - advice please. Last week picked up my MYLR with 19” turbine alloys. Next day rubbed one against curb Has anyone tried the rim protectors you can get? If so, success? Worries about damaging the alloy long term…
I think the Model Y drives and feels much like a smaller vehicle. I've done my share of curbing. I have a couple of Dremel tools that I have used in the past. Not sure what paint to use on the 19 though. I have the 20.

I always thought of them as a cosmetic thing to cover up the damage, not as a protector.
I feel that the rear axle is a bit wider than the front and it’s hard to remember because I mostly pay attention to where my front wheels are with respect to the curb. So the rear wheels have a higher chance of scraping against curb. Don’t know if that’s true or it’s just in my head.
I’ve found that they do protect the wheel (although it is primarily cosmetically covering the rash). I haven’t experienced any further damage on the wheel when they are on and torn loose. It is a PITA, though, to have to replace one.
