With all of the negative comments here about quality upon delivery, about-to-be owners can be nervous about their upcoming experience. Well, I took delivery of my LR M3 today and I was almost entirely happy about it.
I checked the entire interior, the glass, the seals, the door operation, paint, panel gaps, under the car, screen functions, pulled the Aero covers, etc., etc. My delivery specialist was trying to get me to move along to the paperwork, but I continued my inspection. I’m happy to report that the car was flawless inside and out.. with the exception of a bulging seal on the driver’s B pillar. When I pointed this out the service guy said it was within specs. WTF? Lexus wouldn’t stand for that. Heck, GM wouldn’t stand for that. But they wouldn’t budge, despite my complaints. He said if it leaked they would replace it, otherwise it was fine.
I’ll have to find a glue to tack that piece of rubber seal down.
Otherwise, the car, the signing, and the new owner training was efficient and error free.
I verified my 386### VIN was built on 6.4.19. It has both Homelink and the 3.0 AP hardware, so I’m happy about that. There were 4 miles on the odometer.
I’m relieved that my car so far is in excellent shape. I’m getting a front wrap, ceramic, and tint, which means I won’t get to drive it until Wednesday. I’m really looking forward to then.
The scratch is just my thumbnail mark.
