AM Radio Available through update?

Hey All,

I was curious - can AM radio be added later through an update? Or is it missing any necessary hardware needed?

This lack of AM radio was actually a concern of mine before getting the SR+ (without streaming audio) because I listen to a few local AM stations

It turns out all the ones I am interested in (and more) are found on FM HD as HD2 or HD3 sub-channels of other affiliated FM sister stations.

You should be able to find out on their websites if the AM stations you are interested in are available in HD.

Ok thanks everyone for the responses. That's interesting to hear/read about car interfering w/ the radio frequency.

I did buy a $20 portable radio but unfortunately it doesn't work well in the car. I will look into seeing if my favorite AM radio stations are rebroadcast on FM.

I unfortunately have a family cell plan and have limited data usage. I'm too cheap to upgrade our data plan

Search under Tune-In as well. I can stream a few of the AM stations around here using that.

Why Electric Cars Are Ditching AM Radio

Funny, my 2015 Nissan Leaf AM radio worked just fine. Better than the Tunein on my Model 3 which usually works, but sometimes doesn't and depending on the station which sometimes broadcasts dead air (their fault) because they have different commercials to insert and sometimes fail.
