And yet, even Tesla itself fails to mention, that the cover of the deeper trunk well does not have to be put aside (very annoying when not at home) but thanks to its hinging feature in the rear half it can be stowed BETWEEN the back of the jumpseats and the back of the regular second row seats.

I know that this thread is almost 7 years old ;-) Just retrofitted the jumpseats on my 2013 Model S and came across this. Thought I'd share the tip.
 
You don't even need to put the cover behind the jump seat - it folds up and fits exactly on the bottom of the sub-floor itself, and this even works for people that don't have the jumpseat.
