Anyone knows the mechanism behind the middle storage sliding door?

Hey all - I bought a USB hub that inserts towards the end of the storage box. But now I wonder if inserting something in between and thus forcing the sliding door to keep open will harm the door mechanism? Do you all know how the sliding door works?

I bet it's just two or three springs countering each other, I doubt that hub won't hurt it. There are no replacement parts for the console.

That’s the older part for the console (the whole console is different). Those are doors that flip open, not slide.

The item listing says inertia... but honestly, I'm not sure what the mechanism is. That said, I doubt the one inch or so the hub takes up is significant enough, especially if you consider it has a latch to hold it fully open.
