Ok I enquired with Everclear, not bad pricing, seems normal across board with everyone else.

Buttt they advised the following, which I found strange as many places tint rear of tesla? Not talking about already tinted sunroof part, but the rear un-tinted window

"You may be aware there is a couple of well documented issues with tinting the rear screen on the Model 3. the extra head absorption caused by the film is known to cause the demisters to fall off, and in extreme cases the window itself can break. For that reason below tinting pricing is based on the side windows only, which our customers generally find sufficient. "
Think this would look silly tinting all around the car and leaving the rear window space un-tinted...

Basic Level: Ceramic - 54% heat reduction - $385 Inc GST
Mid-Range: Performance Ceramic
- 78% heat reduction - $475 Inc GST
Top-Range: Platinum Ceramic -
95% heat reduction - $695 Inc GST
interesting. they tinted the rear of the Y.
can't say i've ever heard of the issue with the 3, but until we ordered a few weeks ago I was pretty ignorant of most model 3 stuff. 😜

Badges and Screen protectors arrived today.

The DUAL MOTOR and TESLA badges are solid i.e., I will need to remove the stocks ones first.

The T logo badges are actually covers with peel and stick adhesive on the back side. They do cover the edges as well though but will make the badges look bigger than OEM.

Will lay them on top and see how I feel about it before sticking them on.

So I ended up ordering badges after reading this, the front one (stick on cover like yours) arrived today but will be a week before the rear letters turn up (again real letters like yours).

However, after ordering I saw the post about using Plasti Dip and watched the videos. So today I bought a can, watched a few more YouTube videos and now feel brave enough to give it a go. So first thing tomorrow I plan to do the Plasti Dip. Maybe I won’t need the badges.

But honestly, the idea of spraying black rubber all over my beautiful car is giving me a problem. Need to be brave in the morning…

Go down to bunnings early in the morning and try it on someone elses car first.
Wouldnt be the weirdest thing happening in bunnings carparks lol

Good luck and keep us informed. From seeing my friend do it you shouldn’t have any issues and it easily peels off.

My Plasti Dip experience.

I must say the pictures of the front do not do justice, I wouldn't say it is 100% perfect but it is around 98% and actually looks really good, I think maybe the light on this makes it look a bit rougher in the picture.

I really like it, the rear looks awesome to me.

This looks good, says its for highland (but pic is wrong as it has stalk holes) and its smaller so it shouldnt interrupt air vent as much.
Wadda ya thunk?

I wouldn’t.
I would drive the car for a bit before forking out money on stuff like this. The centre display works well for me and haven’t needed anything like this.

yah from what I'm reading, I enquired with Tint Haus as well, they seem very pro in Teslas, the managing director advised they have done thousands of Teslas over the years, and not one has had any issues with heat and cracked windows

They use Xpel Ceramic XR black tint

So I'm pretty keen to get the whole car done including the rear window (rear pano half) as leaving this undone will look strange if I only did the sides considering I want it to all look tinted

Hey all keen to get some thoughts

I have these magnetic door guards which I used for my previous car, i.e. I stick em onto the side doors on my car, so my wife's SUV which parks next to me in the garage when the kids open the SUV door it doesn't swing open into my car and dent it.

However the Model 3 has aluminium doors so unfortunately means NOT magnetic, meaning I need to tweak these pads, and was wondering If I could screw in something like these suction pad screw things into existing pads suction them onto my Tesla?

Thoughts? Good idea/Dumb or alternative suggestions hehe?

Yeah, I'd definitely see if you can try one out with the extra screen before you buy one.

WIthin an hour or so of trying one for a week I was ready to rip it out, mainly because the one I had was blocking the air vents, but most of them also interfere with the scroll wheel functions which means when you are trying to do something with the scroll wheel (usually right one) it's also changing the additional screen, which can be annoying.

One of the things I'd have liked to have seen with the M3H is a proper projected HUD, like the Seal has. My last couple of vehicles have had this and I really like it. That said though, getting used to just the center screen was very easy I found. I probably wouldn't be bothered paying for a 3rd party projected HUD, but if Tesla had a factory integrated one as an option for a grand or so extra, I'd probably have gone for it.

Yeah im not perticularly concerned myself, years ago i had a nissan xtrail that had a centre dash and it took no time to get used too.

Agree, when Our Highland arrives it will be getting the rear done, not just the sides.

Here's the official word from TIntHaus. So if in the rare event the sunroof / rear window were to crack, neither they nor Tesla would warrant it. However in saying so they have done thousands of Tesla's and not one was damaged over the years, and they still offer lifetime warranty the tint itself.

"For the rear screen we only use the Carbon based film which is not the XR Black ceramic. the Carbon film reflects minimal heat but does not absorb heat like a ceramic film does.

Whilst it is not as effective as the XR black ceramic at reducing heat is still cuts total solar energy by over 40% and is the only option which is safe to use on the rear screen.

The film we use will not adversely affect the radio transmission (as mentioned in my initial email), nor will it impact the demister lines in the back window.

Again, that’s correct we will not cover any cracking under warranty due to the tint fitment (nor will Tesla)

We will still however, provide a lifetime warranty on the rear screen against bubbling, peeling, lifting and discolouration."
