Autopilot hardware 2.0 or 2.5...how to tell?

What are differences between 2.0 and 2.5? Is it only the computer board?

Radar supplier also changed. I remember hearing that they switched from Bosch to Continental.

Now there is a differnce, Sentry Mode only will work on HW 2.5 cars...

What does that mean if you have purchased EAP and have 2.0 HW (Jan. 2017). Will Tesla upgrade the hardware to enable sentry mode?

Well there is the possibility that a software update or AP3 HW3 retrofit to FSD enabled 2.0 HW car would enable Sentry Mode but so far the safest bet is to not believe in that until we see it happen for sure.

There have been some rumours but I haven’t seen verification yet...

So far if one really wants Sentry Mode AP2.5 or newer is the safer bet.

Nope, would have to buy FSD to get an upgrade.
