Battery Question

I have a question regarding warranty! So I have a 2016 Model S P100D. Battery warranty until Oct. of 2025 per Tesla App. 8 year/Unlimited mileage for this make and model. So hypothetically, say it has to be replaced tomorrow and it is a new battery. How does that work? Does that mean it starts over and I get a new 8 year unlimited mile warranty or basically with the new battery I still have until Oct. 2025? I'm assuming the latter but was curious if anyone actually knows.

You very likely would not get a new battery; you'd very likely get a refurbished battery with a range/capacity equivalent to yours at the time of failure with no change to the remaining warranty period.
