Reviving an old thread here to ask about the details of this program. Seems like it is re-initiated every now and then. The most recent iteration seems to have been put in place December 2020, and although the Tesla HPWC is listed as an approved equipment option, the written requirements state that it has to be a Level 2 station with a J1772 plug head. Has anyone had any trouble with this requirement? Technically the Tesla HPWC is a tesla-specific plug, not a 1772...

No trouble getting mine approved last year. A friend just had his approved last month. You should be good.

Just a note. Hydro used to give the rebate for a “self install” without a permit. This was accomplished by attaching a pigtail plug to the wall connector and using an existing 14-50 (stove) or 14-30 (dryer) outlet. Hydro no longer accepts this and now requires a permit for all installs.

If you're a BC Hydro customer, you might need to wait till April 20, 2020. check BC Hydro website.
