BC EV rebate to run out of money soon?

At least they do take care of the $5000 incentive for you. For a bunch of SR+ deliveries in Vancouver between March and April they got zero Federal Incentives, I personally know a few of them and we all feel miserable
Yeah feel for those people, that would really suck. Another risk of buying one of these cars is the options change every month it seems. Autopilot used to be an expensive option, now it's added in standard, but the prices went up a bit across the board. You just never get certainty with this company!

HI Folks, I am a huge fan of Tesla, own stock, and was excited to get my blue with white interior PM3 today. Not sure I should complain much as perhaps others are in worse shape than me over this, but here goes, you tell me if I have a right to be upset:

So I get my VIN, 2 days ago, and I am scheduled to pick up my car TODAY at 1pm. I took two days off work in preparation. I got bank draft ready yesterday and started paying interest immediately yesterday. Background: I orderd first week in March. I already waited 2 months and one week for my PM3 when it supposedly takes about 2-3 weeks (they did offer me a black P3D within the 2-week time frame but I ordered blue with white interior, so I said "no, how long for what I ordered?" THey said another couple weeks tops.) 2 months later I finally get my VIN and was super excited last night........but they called at 6pm last night before pick up today and said the BC tax money will run out for SOME BUT NOT ALL 40 of todays deliveries and as such ALL are cancelled. They say another week to see if the money gets topped up or not. Unbelieveable?
Upset? Sure I’d be upset too. But the outcome here is, at least you WILL get the rebate if eligible.. I’d be an order of magnitude more upset if I got unluckily screwed out of the rebate for taking delivery the ONE day that funds were empty..lol.
And you can go yell at people at Tesla but they’re just pawns. If I were you, I would take that frustration out on an epic first road trip with your PM3. Lots of fun twisty roads around here!

Yes exactly. Back at March 2019 I was planned to buy a MR and one day out of nowhere the MR option is gone, also Elon announced that he will raise the price afterwards. So i went into the dealership right away and inquire about the Federal Incentive and all these stuff, Tesla salespeople saids the Federal Incentive will never be eligible for Tesla and today's the last day you can place order before the price went up. So I pull the trigger and fast forward two months later, seeing bunch of people paying for the same car with around $6000 less than how much I paid.

I'm extremely happy for you all but at the same time Tesla's gotto stop or slow down all these kinds of price fluctuation/miscommunication. It is a great car but do leaves a bad taste on our mouth.

Are you sure you qualify for the BC rebate with performance? My understanding is anything with MSRP beyond $77k doesn’t qualify. The MSRP for performance is $80,710.

YEs, reading this thread has appeased me for now (as long as you are right and the $5k is sill coming.) Before reading this thread I thought it was BS and my car was damaged or something and they would rather give me this unbelieveable story...it was just unbelieveable to me that they couldnt do the math when the website exists and the numbers are there for all to see? I also dont soley blame Tesla as the Provincial government, red, orange or blue, doesnt have a particularly stellar track record of being "on the ball so to speak." I work for the feds. I know all about cluster jobs so I guess I shouldnt be surprised about poor communication between departments and start-ups, even billion $ ones LOL.

With the knowledge that this cluster is actually legit I am less perturbed. Its just why get the hopes up? why schedule the delivery in the am then call in the pm to cancel....why make me take two days off work? why have me start paying interest a week early?....alll first world problems so you are right, I am not going to call Tesla head office and report my displeasure with the CND team, or tweet Elon LOL. TBH if there is nothing else wrong with my order when it finally does come all will be forgiven for sure.

One thing that has been eating me ever so slightly the last 2 and a half years is that I never got any incentive for buying my 2016 Zero FX motorcycle. This machine saves the environment way more co2 than an EV car will and although costs less at around 14000 all in CND, it might have been nice to get at least $1500 or something....I cant believe I was only one of 100 people in Vancouver that had one when there are so many reasons to love them (0-100 in 4 seconds, virtually no maintenace, sounds and looks like a star wars speeder from Endor, and you can look like a quasi storm trooper with black and white gear)....they would just fly off the shelf if there was even a $1500 incentive IMHO.

Sorry to hear that, I dont think you got a fair shake at all. I was more fortunate with my timing I think. Indeed I pulled the trigger impuslively in march owing to the "sale." I had the chance to drop my PM3 order and get the SR+ whenI foudn out about the FTC, but just kept the more expensive car order and am hoping it is worth the extra damage to the mortgage...time will tell. At least I got the $4k off plus the $5k incentive (we hope.) Hey, does anyone know if since my Hybrid toyota was totalled by ICBC if I qualify for the "removing an ICE off the road incentive?" I didnt know any of these incentives existed when I ordered. I only ordered the week my car was totalled, well cause I had no more car....timing was written in the stars and is what it is I guess...LOL

If you’re talking about the ScrapIt program, no you would not be eligible. It is an incentive program to get people to choose to surrender an ICE that is working and has been insured for driving for at least the past six months. There is no incentive needed to remove a vehicle that has been totaled. :)

We received the same call on Wednesday at 6PM. We received our VIN about 10 days ago. What I am not clear on is it sounds like the $5K incentive is applied when a VIN number is allocated with an owner who has made a deposit. If that is the case, why did they need to cancel delivery if the funds have been reserved?

Not exactly. The incentive CAN BE applied for at the time of vin + deposit. Tesla chooses to leave it until delivery time to get those funds!

I just got a call from Tesla HQ as I was typing my "further complaint and commiseration post." I now have a new appointment on the holiday Monday (so at least they are asking people to work on the holiday and hopefully paying them OT). The tax money is topped up not sure how much. Details are sparse as my delivery specialist from Vancouver took off for the long weekend. I don't care at this point, the Tesla staff I did speak with from head office in US were nice, and one of two actually could confirm that the money was there and my previous draft was likely good to go. I should have inquired about an earlier appointment like today for example, but head just doesn't work when it's stressed and since we are all off Monday it was a day I could swing.

Yah. Our guy in Vancouver said 800 orders last week. Averaging around 600 to 700 per week. That is 10 percent of Tesla production...in one city.
From Driving an electric vehicle saves you big bucks: B.C. Hydro survey : "By 2030, B.C. Hydro estimates there will be about 350,000 electric vehicles in the province. They will use the equivalent of 1,050 gigawatts hours per year of energy – the same amount of power used by 97,000 homes."
100 per day means 3000 per month.

Another reminder for those of you in BC that are expecting the 7 day trial period on purchase (i.e. refund if you're not happy with the car), as advertised on the website. It doesn't apply if you ask them to process any rebate on your behalf. I was never able to establish if it's possible for a customer to pay the $5k up front and apply for the rebate from CEVBC directly, if so, then you should then be eligible for a refund as per the Tesla stated policy. If you're concerned about this, you might want to speak with the CEV-BC folks about it. From my experience, Tesla Sales staff will not advise you of this when paying for the vehicle, at least they didn't with me.

Yes that's true, I remembered you did mentioned the 7 days return policy a while ago in this forum. How is that turn out?

Also, when you deliver the car, don't get overwhelm and too excited and sign all the documents before seeing the car. If they asked you to sign the documents first, politely declined and let the delivery specialist knows you will check out the car first. Bring in a good flashlight for paint inspection, if you don't know what to look for, print a checklist out and make sure you go over the list from top to bottom, don't let them push you and ultimately you can refuse delivery if you don't like the car.

Make sure you know your rights and at the end, Tesla adviser/delivery specialist is just another glorify name of car salesman.

All good advice will take a flashlight as you suggest. Wonder, is the delivery inside the building or in the large lot to he side, because if it’s raining very hard to determine any paint issues.
