    Canada - FSD rollout

Can’t say I understand the process, but I can say that good things come to those who don’t care! I opted out a couple months ago, then back in a month ago.. the past week I’ve been away and letting various family members drive my model 3, tanking my safety score from 97 to 92… and this morning I...

    Canada - FSD rollout

Idk.. I use it several times a week and I don’t remember the last time it failed on me. It’s not as fast as I would be, but that also applies to anything I do..

    Canada - FSD rollout

Trying my hardest but sitting at 97 with about 1000km this past month. I keep getting damn front collision warnings! Today I got one and I have 163km logged and daily score 96.. I’m wondering at this point if I should opt out and opt back in and do the 200km perfect drive and park it while I’m...

    Canada - FSD rollout

I can attest that the autopilot miles will not reduce your overall average % for each category; my dad drove my car day 1 and got 13% unsafe following and overall 95 that day. I drove four 100 days after that almost all on autopilot and my overall score went up to 100, but the unsafe driving...

    Canada - FSD rollout

anyone have a 100 score so far with substantial km? I wonder what the threshold will be on release day. I read at the American release there were over a thousand drivers with a 100 score on release day. I have to do a manual reset every morning because one intersection I have to drive through...

    Canada - FSD rollout

I’m usually pretty quick to tap autopilot on to stop me quick so I don’t have to do it, but yeah one yellow light that was too late and I was paying for it all evening trying to get my hard breaking score down before the end of the day. Doh. I’ve found that I’m fine to get a 100 as long as I’m...

    Canada - FSD rollout

Too late for you, but for others in this situation.. right before you need to brake hard, turn on autopilot and get it to do the dirty work. It can stop as hard as it wants and you will not be docked any hard braking points.

    NoA is amazing.

A 10k option on a 37k car is good clickbait material, sure. But whether this particular 10k option comes on a 37k car or a 150k car is really irrelevant. It is the same feature set and the same value (or lack of) regardless of the car it comes on. Bottom line is, look at the feature set, decide...

BC CEV rebate fund topped up

I went through this back in 2019. Tesla is just a messenger/paper pusher in this matter. There is 0.00000% chance Tesla will ‘cover’ a gov rebate. There are humans at the government who will respond to you. Rather than bother with anything Tesla knows or says, go directly to the source...

Performance Model 3 Drag Race - 2021 vs 2018 - Is it Faster?

how are you measuring the power and how realistic is the precision of your five significant digits? (i.e. five!!?!) I’d be expecting three, but that wouldn’t demonstrate a difference between the two cars. (In which case technically there would be no difference between the two?) your measured...

Rats...[question on preventing rodent damage in model 3]

A mouse found its way into my car when parked for over a week. Didn’t destroy any car parts (that I know of) fortunately in my case it just shredded the whole Kleenex box. And kept its shat mostly in the floor mats. Since then I looked into solutions as I have mice at my mountain cabin and rats...

ha.. nope. I haven't had to do that yet.

    120v Extension Cord Charging

Ah I just noticed you say 7 months? Definitely don’t bother with a 10/3! 12 gauge for the win here.. And charging at home isn’t NECESSARY. But parking in the alley/yard in east van I like leaving sentry mode on. You wouldn’t believe how many sketchy people do bad *sugar* around here at night. So...

    120v Extension Cord Charging

Ha. You probably live within 5 minutes of me. I have exactly the same situation. I have a couple 12/3 awg extension cords, 50 foot and 100 foot. I’ve been charging like this since 2016. You don’t need 10 gauge for 50 feet, but it will save you a bit over the years in energy loss. My 12/3 100’...

    Autopilot Disabled When Sold

Yup AP alone was an option April 2019.. when I bought mine.. Twitter also discusses AP pricing here Tesla says 'Automatic driving on city streets' including responding to traffic lights/stop signs coming this year - Electrek
  17. B

    Autopilot Disabled When Sold

Scratch that.. I’m pretty sure AP was an option by itself, somewhere around when I bought in June 2019. I think it was March 2019?
  18. B

    Autopilot Disabled When Sold

Unless its AP is part of the EAP package. Then the AP could be removed along with the rest of the EAP package. (I assume, by logic) You could say ‘if the model 3 has AP AND does not have EAP, it will not be removed for any reason by Tesla’ because, well, who likes simple.. Edit.. AP alone...

winter is coming..how do you prepare your tesla for winter beside winter tire swtich?

I needed this last week!! Took a long time and lots of careful work to dislodge the ice from the bottom window trim from all four of my doors in cold ice/snow conditions. After that I’ll be giving this a try.

    Insurance in BC

since I don’t believe Tesla has ever officially said their battery size is 50kwh, and since ICBC forces you to choose from one on that list, that is not a basis they can use to deny you coverage. Parts of ICBC description that are accurate and impossible to misinterpret are “standard range plus”...

    Tire pressure vs efficiency data/chart?

Where? I would be skeptical that the waste heat and incomplete combustion and mechanical losses (significant) parts of the ICE energy equation would be affected at all by the rolling resistance.

12v battery issue, Tesla unsatisfactory response

I think replacing every three years would be overall pretty proactive.. wouldn’t prevent these early failures but isn’t an unreasonable bit of upkeep in the big picture. I EXPECT five years from a car 12v battery when well maintained (ie I trickle charge my gas car batteries at least once every...

    JB Straubel Interview

I get it, I’m too cheap to buy news subscriptions myself. But it’s their decision to require payment and if it’s not something you care enough to pay to read then just forget about it and move on..

should I prepare and buy snow chain for model3 SR+ rwd heavy snow drive in GTA?

If I were that concerned I would get studded tires! Chains are a pain in the ass and have a limited speed you can go, so usually you only have them on for specific locations where they’re needed like driving on steep roads in snowy or icy conditions. If the snow is too deep and you are bottoming...

Tesla to unlock the +5mph stop sign / stop light limit

And if you want a 20% boost, change your units to metric. Gets 10km/h instead of 5 mph! ;)proof that metric is 20% better.

    2020.24.6.3

I am loving go on green with lead car!!! It makes it usable in the city. until now, the red light stop sign recognition was a pain in the butt because if I was just thinking autopilot was on, I would forget to hit the accelerator and the car would start slowing for an intersection, which I’m...

    Low Amp Charging?

I don’t know.. it is a lot. Those numbers suggest 7.5kwh per day, but I only measure draw on average day of 5kwh, suggesting 2/3 of the energy camalaio suggests? Though I think maybe Tesla is using my computer to mine bitcoin while it’s awake..

Hansshow vs Tesla Offer Power Frunk/Trunk - which one to buy?

Sweet.. ok how much does your heavy lifting friend want to come help install mine??!
  37. B

    Low Amp Charging?

That is not entirely correct. You forgot to account for higher voltage losses between the panels and the car. It could be only 1-2% difference but it will come off the 5% you mention. on top of that if you are like me and use sentry mode always, then while charging it is actually more efficient...

Musk said all cars would get HW 3.0, according to InsideEVs Article

Ymmv indeed. I drive the sea to sky highway today vancouver to Squamish and was about 80% on AP. It was pretty smooth in the corners. Better than the same time one year ago. In the past year I’ve had about 5 times where I think AP would have crashed me. Hard to say if it really would have...

Musk said all cars would get HW 3.0, according to InsideEVs Article

FSD today or in five years does not change the safety benefits that come from using basic autopilot as it is.
  44. B

Musk said all cars would get HW 3.0, according to InsideEVs Article

Ok, I guess I disagree with you then. I find it safer to drive like I’m driving manually, but with autopilot on.. so I’m like a backstop to autopilot doing something stupid. Isn’t that safer?

Tesla got the worst score in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey

They also resort to sick tactics to close deals. It’s a systemic problem with traditional car dealerships. One that I think Tesla has pretty much fixed. I’d prefer their current model over going back to having to deal with salespeople for my next car purchase.

Tesla got the worst score in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey

Same here. A few minor things that would be chalked up to my overbearing scrutiny, and apprehension due to first New car purchase. But nothing that they couldn’t buff out at delivery.

Good portable air compressor for the Model 3?

Hey don’t laugh!! I mostly use my bike pump to top up tires on all my vehicles! With the leaks being very slow the need to top up is like once every three months. And the gauge on my bike pump is very accurate so it’s easy to get consistent pressures on all tires. And takes very little pumping.
