Been watching my Sentry videos and

both my left and right " repeaters " ( not cameras? ) fail often.
Either it says they don't exist or I get a 0 file length or a black screen.
Often also they have pixelated bars about half way up.
Occassionally the front camera pixelates too.

I see lots of people complaining about the "cameras" and it seems they put in pretty crappy equipment.

Are there any after market replacement "repeaters"?

I noticed some images been half shopped.
The TeslaCam is still under development and not yet a complete product.

Digital video recording required a lot of cpu resource, especially when doing compression.
I suspect that there is not too much buffering, so it's a kind of on-the-fly system.

If the compression is interrupted before been full completed and stored,
the new stream will just overwrite what was left from before.

The TeslaCam is nice for getting informed about events,
as a new folder with last 10 minutes of recording is saved.

However, I would strongly recommend getting an integrated dashcam,
so will get front and rear recording with sound track, speed, and acceleration.

I have a BlackVue 9000 with 4K image recording, so you get a wider angle and the quality is way nicer,
in particular if you want to read a license number.

Those cameras are located on the turn signal repeaters.
So they have become the repeater cameras, similar to the B-pillar cameras.
Many cars have turn signal repeaters.
Not sure any others have a camera there.
Honda car have a camera located inside the passenger side mirror.
This is quite useful when making parallel parking.

About the B-pillar, it would be more practical to have camera near the front of the car,
may be below the bumper, and facing left and right.

This would be very helpful when exiting a building garage to detect pedestrians,
and also to be able to detect car coming when there are cars parked blocking the view.

Note: I really wonder how Full Self Driving will be possible in this kind of situation.
Bumper sensors are not sufficient.

We've notice the images from the right cam have been jittery and digital fallout... reported to Tesla, wanting a new camera...
they said "aware of the problem, software"

Waiting for it to get better

The ghost car images on that side sometimes are jittery and flip around when sitting at a traffic light.

Not confidence inspiring... if this is what autopilot is having to deal with as well... jittery cars
