Has anyone attempted to “brush” the shine out their chrome trim? Im thinking of taking a scuff pad to the chrome trim around the windows to take some of the shine out of it and give an alternative to the common blacked out chrome delete.

I’m concerned that the trim is just brightened plastic and any attempt to scuff it would result in black showing through or just a very poor looking product.

your concern is correct. even if it were metal, it would be painted. chrome is almost always just a paint product. trying to dull a chrome finish into a "brushed" appearance will weaken it and eventually fail (less paint).
