How exactly would I go about hacking the software. Wouldn’t it be more of a connect and go kinda case.I’m fond of saying, “anything is possible with time and money.”
There’s no such thing as “former” when it comes to salvage. It’s a salvage title and Tesla won’t offer any support or even allow you to purchase parts. So, if you want to build a new battery yourself and hack the firmware to support it, go ahead, but I’d stay away.

To increase range and possibly achieve supercharging. Why are you after replacing the battery pack?

Unfortunately, this will not be possible. The best you'll be able to achieve is 400V@125A with one of these....possibly achieve supercharging.

What’s the fun in being realisticI think you need to be more realistic. Maybe learn a bit more about the car. It’s a nice idea but the car is not designed for that, it’s certainly able to but it’s not, and in all likely hood never going to be offered by Tesla.
More like $20,000 for 80kw/h in the cells, wouldn’t you think? It saves you from a huge dissapointment. Don’t get me wrong, what you want to do is pretty easy, it’s going to cost 30,000 for the cells. 2,000 for the BMS master and slave, 3,500 to control the inverter and probably 3-5 for the inverter. Then you need to pay someone to program that into the roadster, plus a gen 3 charger $1700, open source board probably another $1,500. And that unfortunately will be stand alone. But you should theoretically be able to dump 600-1000 amps into the motor and have supercharging with the range (at 50mph) of a LRM3. But you could buy LRM3 for that and graft a lotus shell on it for less.
Somewhere between there; most likely. Keep in mind that you won’t actually have “supercharging,” but maybe DC-fast charging from some other charging company. Tesla Superchargers validate the car to initiate charging, and you’re car won’t be in the system.More like $20,000 for 80kw/h in the cells, wouldn’t you think?
Thanks for the support and the Steve Jobs quote there.Remember three years ago there was this dude on TMC saying he was going to repair a flooded Model S, and how we all laughed? Well, 3 years on, and Rich has been driving that car for a while now (plus repaired a couple others).
I still say you must be crazy to event attempt this. But ...
“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” (Rob Siltanen)
So, good luck, please be careful; and please keep us informed.
