so when I purchased my vehicle, my first Tesla, I was a bit naive when it came to options. It seems that I missed having AP by a few months. Can this option be added to a 2014?

If it has AP hardware, yes, otherwise not by Tesla and not at a sane price. Not sure exactly when AP was announced, I think around October 2014 - every car made after then had the AP hardware which can be enabled for a fee, so there are 2014 cars that have it. Do you have the AP camera built into the rear-view mirror base?

Do you have parking sensors? My car has AP1 and was built in Sept 2014 which is when it was introduced.

No parking sensors means no AP, parking sensors however do not guarantee AP since there were cars with parking sensors before AP was introduced.
