Northern Sydney Showroom and Service Centre - Chatswood

Still only one car in the showroom. They are still working on fit out and the computers now seem to be in. Place looks almost ready to open.

Time for a new Model S

You definitely lose your lifetime free supercharging. I still love my car which I took delivery of at the launch event. The slow charging does get to me however, but the car is in near showroom Nick. I have the unplugged performance front fascia installed so the car looks like the facelift, and...

    Modifications

Well, here is my latest and it makes my car feel like new! A fairly simple upgrade to the throttle. It effectively expands on the chill/normal mode supplied by Tesla. Now i have 7 settings - 2 eco mode ones which make the car very sluggish far more than valet mode and you would use it for that...

    2014 P85 Gets a 2017 facelift using OEM parts

Wouldn’t it be a whole lot easier and probably more cost effective just to get the unplugged performance after market fascia? That is exactly what i did and it looks fantastic. No new hood required.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I am completely NOT a software person. However, as a consumer, if something is sold to me with certain representation, then I expect to receive such product. We might be guinea pigs as early adopters, but why should we be funding the basic research? Testing a result if it is so represented at...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Yes. Especially the downgrade in charging speed at superchargers for early cars like mine. Done with a software “upgrade” but absolutely no warning and nothing in the “upgrade” notes about it either. It was far from an insignificant change! Totally sneaky. Even to the present with the latest...

Who has not purchased petrol/diesel for the longest period of time?

Got my car at the Australian launch early December 2014. Battery powered chainsaw for the last 2 years corded electric chainsaw for 10 years before that. 17ah pedal assist Ebikes for past 2.5 years. Regrettably wife does not want a new car. Hers is Dino juice for the past 12 years.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Our 2014 cars were also supposed to be able, on private property to be able to come and collect us at our front door. The eyeQ 3 chip supposedly is also capable of detecting traffic lights. Frankly, given what it does actually detect, I see no reason why such a claim would be wrong. It can...

    Supercharger - Macquarie Park, NSW

from the virus point of view there is zero difference now to when the crisis first erupted. The only practical difference is that it is not widespread. Oh, and authorities are somewhat more ready on the health front. That could change dramatically especially with the dicks at the unnecessary...

    Supercharger - Macquarie Park, NSW

As of 31/5/20 the 2 pedestals are still not live.!! Obviously they are not in a hurry and as yet not enough people heading back to the shops. Car park was pretty empty at 11.30 this morning.

So, the mystery carton. Clearly supercharger stalls. Not yet installed as of Monday 18 may.

    Coronavirus

Masks in general protect (to a point) other people not the wearer. There may be a new exception to this with the advent of washable copper and or zinc impregnated fabrics out of Israel. They claim active virucidal effect for the fabrics but I have not seen any independent studies. I do know that...

    Supercharger - Macquarie Park, NSW

That carton looks suspiciously charging stall sized! Would either 5 or ten of them fit on a pallet? That is 2 per carton? In which case they simply have not removed the shipping docket and the other 8 are going in elsewhere?

    AP1/MCU1 and Software V10

As I recall, Amnon Shashua said years ago that the IQ3 chip in our cars was capable of seeing stop signs and traffic signals. The function has simply not been activated after the “divorce”. They won’t pay the current owner of the tech the licence fee to allow upgrade. Here is a direct comparison...

Anything in this version for AP1 cars? Probably not to judge what is being written about it.

    AP1 no autosteer

So your car is just out of warranty? No test drive to check your complaint? That is disgusting! I agree with all on here, but i would add, if you have the time, maybe an interview with the service manager at the facility you took it to, and failing that a written complaint to head office. If...

    Supercharger - Macquarie Park, NSW

Charged there twice now. With the current restrictions, a pleasure! Place largely deserted, but last time 2 other cars were there on my arrival. It is also a 24 hour venue (for charging) and yes I think they ran short of super chargers for the last 2 spots. Pity my car has its charge speed...

Bought my pie from Bilpin fruit bowl, but right across the road, Their pies look equally good. Picked at Pine Crest, but during the week best check who is open and who has fresh pies. Tesla Software updates - Australia

Today, the following happened. Went up to Bilpin to pick apples - out in the open and easily able to social distance. All went well until—2020.8.1.1 my car suddenly would not go into D. At least it went into D and the instant i touched the accelerator it defaulted back to P. The car jerked ever...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

One of the bugs in 20.8.1.1 is the fact that the center screen just spontaneously reboots itself. Has happened to me twice already. Also audio recognition is poor, and this was supposed to be its main feature. The only other feature was the phone Bluetooth thing which allows the phone to connect...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

20.8.1.1 is hugely buggy in my experience. Glad to hear that a .2 is rolling out! I just wish they would properly test the software before rolling out. This is far from the first time this has happened in the4.5 years I have owned the car.

SMS from Tesla re delivery and the virus

Touch less handover can be done. I really dont see anything in the present restrictions that prohibit delivery. Even with more strenuous restrictions. The exception would be total lockdown and “confined to barracks”, but i really cant see that happening this week anyway!

    AP1/MCU1 and Software V10

I had the same thing happen except that would not update from inside either. Called tech support who told me there was an issue with the instrument console failing to talk to the rest of the system. Instructed to reboot both screens and try again. That worked!! Now, today, i had a microphone...

SMS from Tesla re delivery and the virus

Sydney. Went for a 50km bike ride on Friday - good exercise and a way to socialise while keeping your distance. Was with a group. Returned via darling harbour and the city and over the bridge. Darling harbour at lunch time is usually quite hazardous for bike riders as we fight the pedestrians...

SMS from Tesla re delivery and the virus

fully aware of the above. 80% have a cold. 10% feel really crook. 1% die. So far, in oz, 1% require respiratory support. The cruise ship in Yokohama was absolute nirvana for the virus and its spread.20% infection rate! Is there natural immunity at play here? The unnamed flu each season kills...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

No bracket required. The wheel just fits in lying horizontally. Portion of the circumference lies inside the microwave. There is not a heck of much room for anything else though. These wheels are WIDE. Takes up virtually the entire height of the microwave. Will take a photo later and post it...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

There is no room in the froot with a dual motor. Indeed, the”microwave”refers to the void which currently is occupied by the front motor.

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

I actually did have a slow leak puncture a few years ago and can confirm that the system did accurately report that. However, i dont recall if there was a change of colour involved. Too long ago. The leak was slow enough to allow me to get to help without incident.

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

My solution is not elegant but it works. Only because I have rear motor only. I carry a full size spare in the froot, a cheap trolley jack, homemade wedges and a breaker bar. I have made a suitable block that’s fits over the jack point so that my jack causes no damage to the car. (Plans for that...

I wonder whether the batteries in the sensor units in the wheels are flat/defective? Third party product, and who knows how long they were on the shelves before being installed in your car.

Infotainmente/MCU Upgrade Confirmed (US only for now)

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

Did a bit of research, it seems that a permanent repair consists of a round disc with central projecting prong, both made out of rubber but with a metal tip on the prong to facilitate its insertion. They buff the inside of the Tyre around the hole, apply rubber cement and force the unit through...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

Don’t Tyre places that repair tyres do just that? Put in a plug with rubber cement? That is, the repairable type of nail penetration damage in the centre of the tread. It may be that they also put a patch on the inside. Have not had a Tyre fixed in a very long time so I am not sure. Also, they...

I could have got the 21in on my signature car at. O extra cost. I specified the 19’s. I had low profiles on my bmw z3 years ago and hit a pothole with destruction of wheel and Tyre. I promised myself never again. I was not even going fast at the time. Maybe 40km/hr.
