Can't remove phone key

My wife's phone is not unlocking the car properly so I thought I would remove and re-add.

It's a pixel 2.

I disabled Bluetooth on both our phones. Unlocked car with key card.
Tried to delete her phone, says tap key card to console. Tapping does nothing.

Close the pop-up. Pops up again... Repeatedly... Tap to remove pixel 2. Only way to get the message to go away is to reboot with scroll wheels.

Thought maybe console tap wasn't working so I left the door open for a bit. Tried to put into drive, says tap key card to console. Tapping works fine.

Make sure your phone's Tesla app is updated. Mine was doing a similar thing, but I updated the app and it's started to work fine.

Tesla apps are up to date, Can't remove either phone.

Turn the Bluetooth on so that it can talk to the car.

That's not the problem. No combination of Bluetooth on or off let's you delete the phone. I even have an old phone paired to the car that I have off in a drawer. Can't delete that phone either. It says tap your key card to remove Pixel 2. I tap the card, nothing happens.

Did u ever solve this? I have 2 random "unnamed phones" showing up on display as being linked (as well as my real phone which shows up with correct name) - have no idea what they are, could delete one but not the other.

For me the fix was to remove the thumb drive that I was using for DashCam then soft-reset the system. After everything came back up I was able to remove add and remove phone key's.

I've had my thumb drives in an out a few times over the last few weeks. I was able to remove the phone yesterday. No clue what the actual problem was.
