Changing a 2016 Model X from 6-seats to 5-seats?

My parents have a 2016 Model X in the 6-seat configuration. They are really frustrated that the second row seats don't fold down, so the car doesn't have nearly as much storage/cargo room as they would like.

Do the currently Model X's have the same issue? (or did Tesla maybe change it so the seats now fold?)

Or, does anyone know if it's potentially possible to remove those seats and replace them with the bench seat from the 5/7 seat config?

I know it's not a small task, but does anyone know if it is possible at all? And by the service center, or no? I would like to either just remove the second row, or maybe replace the two pedestal seats with a folding bench seat. The lack of cargo space is getting to be a major issue.

We’re you able to do this ? I had a 2016 5 seater MX 75d and a 2017 5 seater 90d and got the 2022 MX LR as a 5 seater .

Big issues going from the 2017-2022 in terms of loss of storage space .

While it's not 6 to 5, it is pedestal to bench, and it was actually done, so Updating early model middle row seats to Fold-Flats (both 7-seat configs) might be better for those following this thread.
