Unlock the charge port, remove magnet. Sand the back of the magnet and the circle on the cover. And glue together with epoxy, double sided tape, or whatever you have that’s sticky.
For some reason the charge magnet and the door magnet gets really hot and that’s what causing the door magnet to come off. Is not weather related is just getting warmThat happened to me about two weeks into ownership(2014 P85 purchased in Oct.2017). I used gorilla glue and it hasn't come off since.
Was your magnet and door metal getting warm as well? When that happened on my Model S a few years ago the service center replaced the charge port door.
That’s ridiculous. Just glue the door. The magnet just became detached from the charge port door of my 2013 MS P85+. (Not the first time.) Tesla responded that because it's "covered" under my extended service agreement, they can swap out the entire charge port door . . . for payment of the $200 deductible. Gee, thanks.
So as to prevent any potential claims that anything I do myself violates extended service agreement coverage, I'm asking them how much it would cost for THEM to simply re-adhere the magnet to the charge port door (which is otherwise in fine shape). That’s ridiculous. Just glue the door.
Try the gray JB Weld. I have used it on radiators before.I already try that. It gets very warm sometimes during the day and the heat is making the glue melt and comes off. This is the 3 door replaced by service.
I did this as well and it says port open when it is not , this bothers me so bad idk what to doIs there a rotational alignment of the door magnet that needs to be very accurate? Mine came off and I super glued it back on, and happily the charge port closes (and opens) as normal now... however the car unfortunately doesn't recognize that the charge port is closed when it is. (always thinks door is open).
