We ordered our Model Y back in February or March (it's been so long, I don't even remember).
Pretty quickly, we were offered delivery. This caught us off guard as we expected to have to wait, and we had a lease that was ending in the summer, so we gave up our car at that time. Told them June 1st would be better.
Months went by. No big deal, waited patiently, didn't care much, never spoke to anyone.
Eventually I reached out to Cherry Hill and asked for an update since our lease was ending. They couldn't do anything, and we understood. Again, no big deal. Ultimately, this is a Fremont issue, not a Cherry Hill issue. We wait, patiently.
We finally get notification that we can pick up the car on July 31st.
It was a mess. Filthy headliner (this cleaned up easily), dent in the fender, paint issue on the rear hatch, among other things. We refuse delivery entirely because we don't want a brand new car that has sat at the body shop for weeks as if it were in an accident.
Sigh. We're perfectly pleasant dealing with the whole thing. Delivery specialist thanks us for being so understanding. apologizes and says that these issues really should have been caught during prep and inspection and we should have been notified before coming to pick up the car. He's right. Waiting for the car was a Fremont issue, but these were a Cherry Hill issue. Again, no big deal. We're told they will remove this car from our reservation, and order us a new one.
So, we go back to patiently waiting. Re-up our lease for yet another extra month.
Then, two weeks go by and I get a text from Tesla:
"Tesla Update - We're reaching out regarding your Model Y order, which is currently still on hold. Please reply DELIVERY if you would like to take delivery by the end of September..."
We're livid.
W.T.F ? On hold?
The Cherry Hill delivery team had one job here. Re-order us a replacement vehicle. This is an employee screw up, and a management screw up. I just checked our order, and it's somehow been updated to indicate that we first placed it on July 11th of all things. Again, W.T.F ?
We're used to the Tesla waiting game. I waited a little while for my M3P. And Cherry Hill service has been good (for the extremely few times I've needed them.) But the delivery team is just a mess.
(okay, thanks for letting me get that off my chest, I'm sure it will do no good except for making me feel better.)
