I'll point out that the rate of change matters and in the past when extreme events have caused rapid climate changes mass extinctions followed.
Ask the frog in the pot, even slow rate of change matters --- eventually.

The data comes from Dr. Roy Spencer web site.
The parameter measured is the global mean temperature anomaly - not actual seasonal temperatures. Scroll down to the 2nd blog for the March data. The 1st blog, Dr. Spencer compares computer models to temperature departures from the 1979-1983 average. You can see the tick downward for both the lower tropospheric and the ocean temperatures.

This is the reason why the sea level is rising. We are still in the Holocene interglacial period according to Greenland ice core data.
You can see the sharp temperature rise at 11,000 years before present. We just came out of our last 100,000 year long glacial period then. You can see the temperature fluctuations during the Holocene. The sea level has varied with these temperature spikes and declines. The net result has been a 400 foot rise in sea level since the ending of the last glaciation.
What does that have to do with the price of tea in Hong Kong?

Just because someone has the PhD does not mean their research is truthful. ooooookaaaaaay ....... what exactly about that is causing sea levels to rise? An interglacial ends and sea levels 'magically' rise? Caused by what? For the second time we know how much Ice is melting... it's an order of magnitude lower than the increase in sea level.
So.... what's responsible for the other 90%? What mechanism? What is the physical cause?

Maybe he can get a law degree and be a defense attorney for DJT... he's got the ability to twist facts to whatever angle pays the most. Sure it looks bad that Stormy Daniels received $130k Daniel Dennison... but maybe there's a perfectly innocent explanation no one is aware of.
Sure it looks bad that the ~exact amount of thermal energy predicted by climate models has been measured in the deep oceans.... but maybe there's a perfectly natural explanation no one is aware of.

The fundamental reason why the sea level has risen during the past 12,000 years is because we've come out of the most recent glaciation or ice age as some call it. The interglacial periods are warmer than the glacial ones. That is why sea level rises during the interglacial. The current Holocene is actually a relatively mild interglacial. During the previous interglacial over 100,000 years ago, sea levels were 20 meters higher than they are today. And there were no pickup trucks and SUVs around back then to cause that!

The primary driver of the warming was still CO2. You don't need trucks and SUVs to increase atmospheric CO2. The source back then was a slightly warmer ocean. Warmer water holds less gas => more CO2 ends up in the atmosphere driving more warming until a new equilibrium is reached.
This is the problem with working backwards from an ideologically formed conclusion and molesting reality to fit it... you have to then find other explanations for things that are already well explained but what you're attempting to unweave. CO2 doesn't cause warming? Ok.... explain what thaws the Earth after an Ice Age.... rising CO2 levels is the only plausible explanation.
