CQuartz Ceramic Coating Results

Just picked up my M3 after having paint correction and CQuartz ceramic coating done. Very happy with the results. Picture doesn't really do it justice.

Wow! We could ship our car from the Bay Area and back + coating for cheaper than it costs here... :)

It also depends on other factors like number of coats. This was the quote I got after asking a well-reviewed local shop by me:

Ceramic Pro liquid coating pricing is as follows:
Gold $1,650 - lifetime warranty - 4 coats of liquid - includes 1 coat on windows and face of rims
Silver $1,250 - 5 year warranty 2 coats
Bronze $950 - 2 year warranty 1 coat
*All include a 2 stage paint correction
Turnaround time - about 2-3 business days

Here are some photos after prepping and applying CQuartz UK 3.0. This was my first time applying ceramic and it was very easy to do. I washed, iron x, clay barred, polished with DA polisher from Harbor Freight with meguires m205, wiped with 25% isopropyl alcohol solution with distilled water and applied the ceramic. 1 coat everywhere, 2 coats on hood/bumper. Looks stunning. Feels amazing.

Wow, $800 for cQuartz? I paid $60 for a bottle and applied four coats myself. You car looks great, however!

There’s a difference between the commercial vs consumer CQuartz. The consumer one lasts about 6-9 months and the commercial one uses UV light to harden the coating and will last a couple of years. My wife’s X has a commercial coat and my 3 has CQuartz UK 3.0 and you can tell the difference after driving a few months.

I actually polished off my CQuartz today and applied Viking Coat to try out. Super glossy and glasslike right after application.

I’ll try a water bead or sheeting test tomorrow after the Viking Coat hardens.

I did my 3 and before my ELR (and it is more than a couple of hours work too but worth it). Here is my ELR at almost 2 years. I would say it was still beading and shinning like day one. It was not washed (a little dirty/dusty) and this after a rain.

I had a professional installer do mine with CQuartz Pro last September. I do appreciate that it makes the car easier to wash and keep clean. But it isn't beading like it used to, and there are some areas on the hood and tailgate that aren't beading at all anymore. I'm going to take it back to the installer for a checkup soon. But I'm wondering what the deal is. If the product doesn't even last a year, why does the company promise like 4-5 year effectiveness? It will be interesting to see if the installer finds deposits on top of the ceramic that are diminishing its effectiveness, or if he will want to put on another coat.
