creeping at slow speed and heard mechanical brake pedal sound

I was creeping along at less than 5 mph, stop and go, suddenly I heard my brake pedal make 3-4 mechanical clicking sound as if it was trying to activate it for me while I had a slight depress of the accelerator. It freaked me out and I depressed the brake a couple of times. It didn't happen again and drove normally.

Heard and felt the clicking of the brake pedal inside the cabin.

I have standard regen and hold mode normally.

At that split moment, it felt as if I was in neutral, no resistance or regen drag.

Could it be the system falsely applying brake for me as it got confused and thought I was about the rear end the car ahead of me? We were all creeping along like at 2-5 mph.

being that you are in SF. I wonder if the car M3 thought you were stop and go traffic going up hill maybe stop and go traffic going down hill hmmm...

If you had recently started moving from being parked, this is likely the brake disc wiping feature (I think). Basically since the brakes aren't used much due to regen, it sometimes very lightly applies the brakes for your to clean/wipe the braking surface.

Happens to me when on AP and I'm slightly pressing the accelerator. Car is trying to stop because of vehicles slowing down in front of me.

Nope, not on AP. I'll monitor to see if it happens again.

It will apply brakes even when not on AP if it thinks there is a hazard in front.
