Delay in getting model 3 deposit back?

I have a family member who gave $1000 deposit to Tesla for the Model 3 when it was announced. Due to timing not working out (Tesla didn’t have an AWD car available at the time his current lease was up), he decided to lease a different car and revisit the Model 3 the next time around. He requested his deposit back ~3 months ago yet has still not received it. He has corresponded with them a few times yet still no refund. Any suggestions?

How was this correspondence carried out? I had to physically ring them and get them to pay it back after not getting anything for a similar time period.

I was told it was "lost in the system" somewhere. I then got it back a week later.

Yep, your family member has been lost. Tesla has some... organization problems. Phone 'em up and ask where the heck your refund is.

Slightly related - anyone dealt w/ a refund for an entire return? I returned last week (sigh - was it really the only way to deal with the price difference?) and now I want my $ so I can place another order.

AFAIK the main customer service number is the best method, unless they nag their credit card company. I originally got a refund on a M3 deposit about a year ago, but had to bug American Express to get it.

I canceled my daughter deposit took 8 months to get it back. I went and gave a written complaint to my local sales center and followed up with emails to Tesla. It eventually came by FedEx. Thought it was lost. Happy got it back.

I was an in-line reservation holder and I requested my $1K cancellation/refund last Sunday, March 3rd. Tesla made a deposit into my checking account the next day, March 4th...pretty dang quick. Maybe other forms of refund payments take longer than direct deposits?

I got mine back via direct deposit within 3 days. Fastest option is if you have a debit checking account.
