DIY Fix for Model S Push-to-Talk Button Issue

If your Model S's push-to-talk doesn't work, try this DIY fix:

It worked for me, but now I have to apologize to other drivers and pedestrians when I want to navigate by voice or play music.

Sounds to me (lol) that the steering wheel has something mechanicaly awry, like the wiring is actually misplaced or it's hitting the microswitch for the PTT. Especially when it honks and also triggers the PTT.

I really doubt it's a generic 'fix'.

Just after the last software update PTT doesn’t work unless you hit the horn. It’s not the button , since the button works on other applications. This is a software problem Tesla needs to fix
