My Car: Wattson
2016 Model S 90D (03/2016)
Exterior: Titanium Metallic
Interior: Black NextGen

Purchase:
https://ev-cpo.com/hunter/ was a HUGE help for finding the right car with the specs I was looking for and it made tracking the prices much easier than what I was doing (screenshots and bookmarks of the cars that had caught my eye). I 1,000% percent recommend using that site and either using their referral code or signing up for the premium ($) account to use the site. I ended up using their referral code since I didn't know anyone in real life and that site was super useful. After a few weeks of doing MAJOR research and tracking car prices I had my eye on 3 cars with 2 if them being ones that I really wanted. The prices kept dropping on them each day and as the price got close to my target i was checking to see if they were still available. I was driving to work and thinking that I ave never seen a Titanium Metallic Tesla in person and then 5 seconds later I saw one drive right past me.... It was a sign! Well, now i really had the car on my brain and I was checking the prices of the 3 cars I really had my eye on about every 30 minutes. I kept thinking that the Titanium Metallic one was the one that I really wanted but my plan was to see how much they go down and when there was 1 left I would buy it. Checking all morning long about every 30 minutes 2 of the 3 cars were gone and my top pick was the only one left to purchase so I knew i had to act fast...It really was a sign that I needed to pull the trigger and get it.Then, Boom! $2,500 on May 1st and the car was gonna be mine!

Delivery:
After pressing the buy and putting down my deposit it was the longest 2 weeks of my life! I got a call from the Sales adviser that night and we went over the details of the car and confirmed delivery to my local showroom (The car was across the country). He gave me a 2-3 week estimated delivery time and was told that a delivery specialist would contact me as the time got closer but I needed to fill out the item on the My tesla portal. I quickly filled those things out (Drivers license, proof of some insurance, etc). No communication for about a week so i reached out to the sales advisor and he just said that someone from the delivery team would reach out to me. 1.5 weeks later on Monday i was called and said my car had come to my local showroom and I needed to schedule an appointment for pickup. I asked for the quickest time possible which was 10am on Wednesday and got my 3rd party financing and insurance in order and uploaded the required files to the Tesla portal. Day of pickup: i got there a little early (who wouldn't) and was greeted by someone was was taken to my car to give it a look over before signing the paperwork. The car looked (and smelled) amazing! Very minor paint issues with the car that we only noticable if you looked VERY closely. and very minor wear on the interior of the car. Extrmely acceptable to me for a car that is 3 years old and 36k miles. The car is 'brown' so it didn't look as good as it could under the florescent lights but it was in great shape and the lines of the car looked SO sexy! I filled out some paperwork and signed about a dozen things and then got the keys to the car and a quick tutorial. I had test drove one about 3 weeks earlier and watched about 30 hours of Tesla related videos so I was pretty familiar with the car and how to drive it already. I got in and took some pics and then drove off. Everything went smooth and I was only at the showroom for about 30 minutes and most of that was asking questions and chit chatting. 5/15/2019, The start of my new Tesla life!

Ownership impressions
THIS CAR IS AMAZING! I kid you not, I have said that out loud a half a dozen times when just driving in the car alone. The car is SO quick, comfortable and quiet. I love all the technology in it and how it keeps things simple and intuitive. I have taken about 8 different people for a ride in and it have left 2 people drive it and everyone is blown away. Most cars are fun to drive in 1 or 2 types of situations such as something that is good for stop/go traffic and back roads like a small hybrid car but would not be good for highway speeds or long drives (Civic, Prius, Leaf) or a bigger car that is good for going fast and highway speeds (Corvette, mustang) but not stop and go traffic or long drives. But my model S has it all! Stop and go traffic? oh, just throw on Autopilot and have it self drive and get 100 MPGe and relax..... back roads? This thing sticks to the road like its on rails... long highway drive? PLENTY of storage space and a super charger network to keep you going.... going fast? Well, we all know how a Tesla is with that. Oh, and say you get some inclement weather? Dual motor and traction control has you covered there too. The car is just great to drive all the time under any condition. The car is bigger than my old VW Passat and I knew everyone said that the Model S was a big car but I had to change my garage parking strategy to fit the car in it. I am still working on getting a 14-50 outlet installed in my house and have used the supercharger (free!) that is near my work 3 times to recharge the battery and that seems to be working very well. I do have a tiny bit of range anxiety since I am relaying on the supercharger until i have my outlet at my house installed but I think that will go away once I have it all hooked up and I can charge at home. The car received an update from the time the dealership pictures were taken (2018.50.8) to the time I picked it up (2019.12.1) and then just received another update this week (2019.16.2) so it good to see that even though my car is older it is still able to get updates (although not as cool as the AP2.5 and MCU2 cars).

Issues with the car:
  • The front windshield has a ghosting affect with lights and reflections. Seems like a huge deal to me so I have scheduled an appointment for them to look at it and hopefully replace it. Seems like quite a safety issue that all lights and reflections are duplicated therefor making things look blurry. Also unacceptable that a $100k new has a very visible defect that affect 95% of your driving visibility.
  • First day of the car the main center display glitched out and had garbled characters on the screen. I did a reboot with the 2 wheel buttons and it fixed the issue but it came back the next day again and I had to do another reboot to get the issue cleared. It's been alright for a couple days but I plan to have this looked at and hopefully replaced when I take it in for the windshield.
  • Slight Yellow line issue on the main display as well. I've been reading a lot on these forums and seems like a known issue that Tesla is back peddling on and hoping to implement a temp UV fix for it.
P.S.
I love having a Titanium Metallic car. It's easy to spot being the only one that color at the Superchargers.
