Fine citizen keying Tesla Model 3

So sorry that happened to your car. Pretty disgusting and criminal for someone to do that to someone’s property. She looked like a real winner. I can only imagine what she’s like in person.

What city did this happen in? I would think if they wanted to a search for her face on a driver’s license database might turn her up but don’t know if cops will bother to do that for property crime. Wonder if your insurance company will and see her prosecuted to recover the cost. Like to see her with some charges on her record as well; a little jail time would be nice to teach her a lesson. I’m just floored an adult, and a woman on top if it, would do this. Since you said it went down to bare metal and she looks like she got a lot of your car imagine that’s going to be pretty expensive.

Maybe turning it in to your local TV station might help locate her. It worked for the Model 3 owner in Old Sacramento with those two guys who keyed his car. When it went public they ended up turning themselves into police instead of getting arrested on the street by the cops. Got charged and faced the consequences. If people don’t stop this kind of stuff when they can, it will be a free for all down the road like smashed window break ins are for cars in the SF Bay area (little if any repercussions and epidemic proportions).

Keep us advised.

Woke up this morning to see an Electrek article on this picked up from facebook: Tesla Sentry Mode makes vandal internet famous - Electrek

Here's the CBS4 news report with video on it. Sounds like the lady will ultimately be found and charged with a felony as she should be IMO. This seems to be the way to bring these type of people to justice and pay for the damage and their property crime. To think this was likely a fellow parent at your kid's school is really appauling.

Surveillance Video Shows Woman Keying Tesla Model 3 In School Parking Lot

Looks like a good chance they won't have to pay out of pocket for their insurance deductible.

Wow. The things people will do today are the same as in the past. Downright childish and stupid. I just don't think people realize there are cameras everywhere now, and more to come in the future. A stunt like this would surely cost me my job if caught. Some clause about public profile and stuff.

Felony car keying. All the convicts would laugh at you. Keying a car gives you no street cred.:D

Can happily report that the "lady" has been found by police last night. Not releasing the name until charges are filed. Here's CBS4's story on this aspect. Pretty much saying the above and a recap of the incident but yes, she's been ID'd.

Broomfield Police Identify Suspect In Tesla Vandalism Case

LOL. @outdoors see we were both looking for an update on this case about the same time! I'm sure many people around the country are happy to hear another vandalism case has been resolved and police got involved.

I hope she does get charged with a felony and has some appropriate jail time and fines apart from having to pay the cost of the repairs. I know some people don't think jail time is appropriate here but if the average citizen (non organized-"criminal" element) can get off with just a slap doing this, it just makes other angry people/drivers more embolden to take out their frustration on other's property. We hear so much about road rage these days. Paying fines and costs for some people is not such a big deal and they then just feel it was worth it. But put someone in jail for a period of time and I'm willing to bet that person won't be taking that action again. Might think about it but won't carry it out. If she's given some time locked up and it gets reported also more likely to 1) make citizens feel like something is getting done to stop this and 2) deter the behavior of other people like her.
