Finished MY brake upgrade - Performance rear + stock LR front

This is a nice cosmetic upgrade. However, you need to know that once you upgrade your rear calipers you also have to be aware of the brake bias. There is a chance that it will messed up the brake system balance and ABS on the rear which I think not worth the risk.

Keen eyes! Yes, that's from a M3. I had to do some creative cutting of the fender liner to get the splash guard tabs to snap in. Only used the front. The rear didn't need it as the rear bumper tapers in towards the rear. I wasn't too concerned about cutting a 1/4" by 2" notch on the liner. I'd figure when they do make a proper My splashguard, that it'll hide the cuts anyways.

Can you link which splash guards you bought specifically? I'd really like to do the same here

I guess I can't edit once I've posted. So here's the pertinent info:

  1. Rear MY Part #s:
    1. WIRE COMP R,EPB - PLUS(1098481-00-C)
    2. WIRE COMP L,EPB - PLUS(1098480-00-C)
    3. Performance Rear Calipers: (1044643-00-F & 1044644-00-F)
    4. Performance Rear Rotors: (1044636-00-D) x2
  2. Paint color: GM Performance Torch Red
    1. I had a local paint shop scanned in the rear calipers and matched the closest factory color of all car manufacturers. He tweaked it a bit w/ a little more red. Color info in attached:

BTW, the MY front calipers are the same as the performance ones. Just not painted (Just compare w/ my pics against the PUP fronts)
If you dont mind me asking. How much did you spend on parts and labor?

Thank you for the write up! I'll be doing the same upgrade. The rear C clamp brakes just makes the car look cheap.

Few questions.

1. I noticed the LR & P rear rotor is the same size as the performance 3 rotor. Is the rotor upgrade necessary?
2. I assume the brake pads are also different? I didn't see that on the list.

Thanks again.

You know the P rear brakes are still sliding calipers, just harder to work on because they’re made up to look like fixed ones and don’t have a window for piston retraction. Plenty of cars with sliding rear calipers, like the AMG GT and the Lamborghini Urus. It simply doesn’t matter that much.

Paint was about $50 for two aerosol cans and a quart of pre-mixed for spray gun. Only needed to use the rattle cans.

Used VHT primer, red base and VHT clear.
Hey how did you go true to buy all this parts if you don’t mind me asking because I contact Tesla service and they technically say no or can’t be done😫
Thank you!
