Fob Question

The book indicates if you press and hold the fob it opens the charge port.

Does pressing and holding the fob unlock the port while the cord is connected?

I am not using a Tesla EVSE, so the only way to unlock the port is through the app or from the screen inside the car.

You should just be able to unlock your car and then press the button on the non-Tesla EVSE to stop charging and unlock the EVSE.

It doesn't unlock the charge port when I approach with phone/key.

Yes long pressing the trunk on the fob should unlock the charge port.

Use the button on the charge cord to unlock it, no need for apps or fobs.

Regardless of your charger brand/type, pressing the button will unlock the charge port anytime the car is unlocked, which is generally anytime you are near the car.

The car does need to know you are there before unlocking the port. Sometimes I need to pull out my phone and wake the car up or unlock it with through the app before it will release the cable.
