Before deciding on a buyout I searched the Tesla used car site and AutoTrader type sites and my S was in the ballpark. Of course, prices fluctuate more on a Tesla than any other it appears. My options (in my mind) were to buy another brand (just no!) , a 90D used or new Model S. I hemmed and hawed plenty over it and decided a buyout with a car I know is the best way. Many stories of Tesla issues on used sales. Too many to mention. That also gave me pause.
Funny thing is I planned on buying this car in 2016 and the DAY BEFORE pick-up changed it to a lease. Mostly due to Tesla making so many changes. 3 years later and the changes are just not worth another 40k to me for basically the same car
Exactly the same boat as you are and our MS's are roughly the same age. Except I haven't uncorked mine yet.
Yes. In June 2016 I believe the difference from a 60D to a 75D was $9000
When Tesla did the upgrade for $2000 I jumped at the chance. My upstate trips in the winter were becoming range anxiety trips. The upgrade fixed that. And the uncorking was a bonus
Tesla added the $7500 tax credit to the residual value which lowered the payment. But when you buy the car at the end of the lease, you are giving them the tax credit.Isn't that a high residual? That car really held its value.
Why not just buy 1 and drive it till it dies?My wife leases a new Lexus every 3 years. I'm not going to say it's easy because I have to haggle every 3 years. Pisses me off because we have leased 4 Lexus'. That's 12 years and they still try to nickle and dime me. Car companies suck!
FYI never ever buy out a lease, your will be xxxxxed royally, taxes x2 on top. I leased my ICE to drive the xxxx out of them and never worry.
And what? Tell my wife she's out of luck. Drive it till it dies? As I drive my Tesla Divorce costs much more than a lease every 3 yearsWhy not just buy 1 and drive it till it dies?
I am paying taxes on the buyout price. When I leased I paid taxes on lease value. How is that more in taxes?
aww comeon- you must be pullin my leg? To get a new car every 3 yrs is just crazy. Just say no.Thats not grounds for divorce. And what? Tell my wife she's out of luck. Drive it till it dies? As I drive my Tesla Divorce costs much more than a lease every 3 years
