Found this during delivery, seats punctured?

Hello, most likely this is a feature I’m unaware being such a fresh owner, but I found this cut that looks more less deliberate on the rear seats backside, on the center seat.

Does it serve a purpose that I’m missing?

That is where the post sticking out of the other seat goes to latch it in the up position.
