FSD monthly subscription/HW 2.5 to 3.0 upgrade

I tried searching the forum for recent information about this, but I did not come to success.I have a 2018 M3 with HW 2.5 and am interested in subscribing to FSD monthly. Has anyone been able to get Tesla to do a complimentary upgrade (instead of paying a $1K installation fee) to HW 3.0 without paying $8K outright for the FSD suite? Thanks in advance for your help.

I paid the $1000 charge, but it was worth it to me. The FSDb has been great. Some people got better deals, but that's life.

For what it’s worth I tried and was quoted 1000 which they would not move off of. I bought for 2000 rather than subscribe

Seems like a no brainer if you already have EAP without HW3 and want FSD.
