Our S (Europe) has the gen1 charge port. That’s the one not motorized, that needs to be closed manually.
Since day one, I’ve had issue to open the charge port door using the button on the SuC or HPWC connector.
So much so that the service center even replaced three times our HPWC, recognizing the reproducible issue and convinced the issue was not the car.
All this to no avail, as the door mostly remains closed when being asked to open.
Alternative ways, using the screen or the remote would not work either.
The only way to open was to push on the door a bit and try again.
I somehow “saw the light” early December, tried something new and as it’s been more than a month working well, I thought I’d share.
Simply, I put some matte tape on the magnet on the door.
Ain’t that something? Just a tape and it now opens each time.
I guess the magnet sticks and the tape prevent this from happening.
Not a great look but as this is invisible when the door is closed, I’m happy.
I realize the majority of owners with motorized ports won’t care, but it might be helpful to some pre AP and AP1 owners around.
