Going on vacation. Should I leave it plugged in?

If plugged in unattended, how may it handle any potential power surges, lightning, etc.?
Power surges can happen any time. A whole house surge suppressor can be a good investment. Ground lightning strikes can be a concern if you live in an area with frequent storms and your home is located on high ground with few if any tall trees nearby. Lightning will go to ground anyway it can, even through your home's electrical line, gas line, water line or telephone land lines.

From a risk standpoint a lightning strike is low probability event with the potential to cause a large amount of damage should it happen. A vehicle does not have to be an EV or even be plugged in to be damaged by a lightning strike. Parked with Sentry mode turned off the Tesla Model Y will lose ~1% to 2% of the battery state of charge per week when parked inside my home garage, not plugged in. That is my preferred method.
