I'm taking delivery of my Model X this week & will start experimenting with this idea (Hotel Tesla in a Model X). My first thought is to move the 2nd-row seats all the way forward, place large pieces of luggage in the gap in between the 2nd & 3rd row of seats then place an inflatable mattress on top.

I am fully aware that this might not create a usable sleeping space but I am going to take this idea as far as it can go.

I will probably note the differences between 6 & 7 seat configurations in regards to space.

I find it amazing they took deposits for this and delivered something that doesn't do this.

Per the reservation agreement, Tesla was not even obligated to build and sell *any* Model Xs. The Model X they did delivery is more useful to me than the prototype. I know some others' personal situation is not the same, but the deposit was not binding at all.

Besides non-folding seats there was more room behind the third row seats in the prototype
(go to minute 20:55 youtu.be/u0I7dByeTt4?t=1255 )
I understand the prototype was on a longer wheelbase than the current S and X and maybe that’s where we lost that capacity.
If they had shown the car I have now I would have loved it and still ordered it. The prototype did have more useable space so there is a bit of disappointment but I still love it.

Ok, I'm finally coming up for air after almost 2 months and 5k miles driven on my Model X.

I've been doing some testing on sleeping in the model X. I purchased a small collapsable stool from Dick's Sporting goods for $10 & a slim twin size mattress.

I'm 6'7". This where my legs come to...

It worked better than I imagined. my feet didn't wobble or fall off to one side.

I see I'm not the only one thinking about sleeping in a Model X. Our Good friend Bjørn has tried it too with a box.

Video here.
