Should modify this idea and just have it for goods. Similar to those vacuum tubes for sending info in hospitals and supermarkets. Freight would be taken off the road and sent on pallets in tubes between cities. This means you wouldn't have to worry about conditions for passengers as you wouldn't have passengers and this would save lots of time on research. Lots of lorries/trucks would be off the roads making them safer and reducing pollution. It would also mean for a country like the UK, free up limited rail space for use as passenger transport, negating need for hs2.

Presumably you'd have two systems. One for passengers and one for freight. In general the passengers want a somewhat different destination then the freight does.
