    Elon & Twitter

I'm super concerned for Elon's information diet so to speak. In the US you have a REALLY big problem with disinformation (duh) if even someone historically as level headed, rational and first-principles oriented can be dragged down in to this morass of lies and display his ignorance to the world...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think you're on the right track here; My view is he knew he was going to sell, wanted to couple his selling with a bit of a publicity stunt in where he could 1) show that he does intend to pay his taxes in the way he's supposed to when he realizes gains 2) that taxing unrealized gains is a...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Of course it should be a catalyst, but (and I know you get it) it has to be understood in the correct way. My hunch is many in the market don't understand this in the correct way - they see a headline that says Hertz has ordered 100.000 Teslas, they know that "Tesla only sold 500k cars in 2020...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So is Hertz, Avis, Alamo and Enterprise going to build their own Tesla factory or something? No, they are the going to have to get in line with the rest of us. Because I know for a fact that there are no special deals available for anyone, and no cutting in line, everyone pays the same for their...

Yeah I guess you're right. Or you could say there's no time value in a deep ITM call option anyway. For example a Jan2023 $500 strike call option costs $658 right now (TSLA230120C00500000 (TSLA230120C00500000) Stock Price, News, Quote & History - Yahoo Finance) which is basically the cost of...

If there is significant time left until expiration you'll essentially be giving away the time value so not a good idea. Edit: So if you are to to this you should wait until close to expiry so that any time value left in the option is negligable.

What exactly does "shareholder approval" mean in this context. When they did the split in August 2020, the announcement read: "Tesla, Inc. (“Tesla”) announced today that the Board of Directors has approved and declared a five-for-one split of Tesla’s common stock in the form of a stock dividend...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This is kind of a surprising catalyst IMO for a 15% move, breaking the $1000 wall and all. Hear me out: Hertz don't buy cars, do they? They lease? And all I've seen are news articles, not really any specific agreement, time line or anything. We know Tesla don't do deals (everyone pays the same)...

I think we're making a run for $1000 . Next milestone: 1 Trillion market cap? I think they're going to have to add some new incentives to Elon comp package soon. Remember how "everybody" laughed when it was presented in 2018? Well, they're not laughing now... All the market cap...

I see. But the official short interest numbers do reflect some type of sentiment, so one would assume that obscured/naked/illegal/indirect shorting would correlate? I take the point about needing shareholder approval.

Long time lurker here. So with offical short interest up 8% in the last reporting session (29 million shares short, up from 27 million) which was Septh 30th (TSLA closed at $781 on Sept 30th), how about a new 1:3 or 1:4 or even 1:5 split soon, using the exact same mechanism as the August 2020...

Agreed his take on it is spot on. Question (honest question, not trying to be factitous): Do people watch CNBC? By "people" I mean people who actually buy and sell stocks. Is CNBC broadcast television, with commercial breaks and the whole thing - is that still "a thing" in the United States?

All inn all good China numbers. Will be good to get some more detail on this in the Q2 letter from Tesla. Seems very likely to me there was a pause/hold up due to parts and delays in March/April and that the curve during May is pointing upwards quite sharply. In other words it seems like this...

Wow if TSLA manages to close green today I will be quite impressed, from that deep dive in the pre market and beginning of the session. One take away for me would be that in the "old days" where TSLA was a much more fringe/smaller cap stock any FUD being thrown at it would stick harder and take...

Very interesting, would love to know more about this if it in fact has some truth to it. We also know of course that in the very early days Daimler too had an active ownership position in Tesla (9% stake in 2009, cost them at that time $50 million). If someone creates a better translation...

Thank you for taking the time to write this first ever post after having joined the forum today. Problem is that if you only look at "wear and tear" of the road heavy transport is >95% of the issue. And zooming out even more it's actually mostly weather and climate that degrade roads over time - so an unused road will wear out just like a heavily used road. Which is why only miles driven...

But if they did perform the upgrades in Q1 I'm sure they will report on those costs regardless of if any cars were delivered or not - or do you see a potential (non-dishonest) way for Tesla to delay those costs until next quarter?

That was great. So complex with the cars just parked along the side of the road with hazard lights blinking, lots of pedestrians, complex 4-way crossing etc. Seeing that makes me bullish on a Sunday! @Norwalk79: I think it's Philadephia, but I could be wrong.

That or GM has a huge ad budget and well you gotta do something with all those millions of dollars. It's clear that you are several levels smarter than me though so I'll take your word for it that the ad worked great and people bought lots of GM gas cars after seeing it.

That's a very good take on it. However it is not true that that was the commercial I watched. It starts with Will Ferrel saying "Did you know that Norway sells more electric cars per capita than the US"? And then crushes the in front of him and says "Well I won't stand for it!". Cut to him...
