how much of a difference does it really make if I let the battery sit at 90% vs. 50%?

Research shows about half the degradation at 50% vs 90%. If that doesn’t matter to you, then that’s up to you what you do with you car.

Not saying it will happen but your battery can degrade another 20% and not be a warranty issue. That would bring you range down to 355km or 221 miles. Still may not be an issue depending on your driving needs. Me, my RWD only started with 435km and I take some long trips so I’m trying to squeeze as much out as I can. Enjoy your vehicle

I'm actually reconsidering now. I installed 2023.26.7 today and we're back to the 80% daily charging recommendation after it had been 90% for years.

Reconsidering my daily charge level. I used to park the car at about 90% SoC, consistent with Tesla's recommendation to use 50%-90% for daily driving. Now they are saying 50%-80%.
I still charge above 80% right before I drive home, but when I arrive there, the car now shows 80%.
