Count the ICE car commercials on CNN during one hour. This is the problem with corporate funded media. They can't do any negative stories on their sponsors, which is why you'll see a random commerical for Koch Industries or some other influence group that's not even advertising a product, just buying media influence. They CAN do negative stories on companies which threaten their sponsors.

There is no 'free' media. In every sense of the word.

There is no news published anywhere without an agenda. THERE NEVER HAS BEEN.

Anyone who subscribes to this CNN / FOX News dichotomy is drinking the Kool Aid.

CNN, FOX, NYT, WSJ, BLOOMBERG all the so called 'mainstream media' is paid for and corporatist. Just like our politicians. And in case you are wondering which mega-corporations, well I would say follow the money but at this point ' all of them' would probably be close to the truth. For that matter, that would apply to all the non-mainstream media as well. Yellow rags the whole lot of them.

How should you get the news? Previous posters touched on it: Read multiple sources and then don't believe any of them. Figure it out for yourself. Read between the lines.

Oh, except for Yahoo Finance, of course. Anything on that site is pure unadulterated truth! The last good news site on the planet.

The difference between news and opinion used to be obvious. News should be reporting what happened while opinion should be what someone thinks about what happened.

You shouldn't have to filter opinion, spin and poor journalism to try to figure out what the news actually is, but here we are.

True, but be very careful about false equivalencies. CNN may do the bidding of advertisers, but fox news was created for the explicit purpose of creating an alternate reality with its own set of untrue facts. Roger Ailes saw what happened to nixon in watergate, and decided it wouldn't have ended that way if nixon had his own news channel, so he created one. Alies also said he didn't need to hire investigative journalists, just attractive talking heads on a patriotic looking set. Fox news EXISTS to mislead and misinform.

Wow what a click-bait thread title.

Kinda meta considering the discussion.

I'll just remind everyone that this is not the place for partisan bickering etc. The purpose of this forum is to discuss Tesla, EVs, etc. This thread is already marginally relevant, and the moderation actions will be brisk if it goes off the rails. Well... any further off the rails...

The fact is news commentators have taken over news reporters. This is in response to an audience who value entertainment value over being informed. Like any successful business, you have to produce what your customers want.
Nah, you produce and price according to what they will accept and buy, not what they want.

as a progressive liberal who ostensibly should have nothing against the so-called "liberal media" (har har), yes, CNN is garbage. it is clickbaity and poorly researched. it's devolved into something pathetic.

Anderson Cooper is cool, but almost everything else that station does is vapid and untrustworthy.

Also, Wolf Blitzer is among the stupidest people on the planet. dude is dumber than a bag of hammers.
