Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The Tesla brand has become completely toxic and a total non-starter for half of Americans, and that is 100% entirely Elon's fault. The effects of that are now being reflected rather severely in terms of demand. I identified this specifically as the #1 biggest risk to Tesla's brand several...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

guilting consumers into accept a reduction in functionality for moral reasons is not an acceptable answer and will be a humongous loser of a proposition in the marketplace. If EVs win, it will be because they are superior products -- no other reason.

a high-quality wrap requires removing the body panels, so the wrap can actually wrap around those panels and not show the original color. If the wrap is happening AT the factory, it doesn't make sense to put the body panels on just to take them right back off again to wrap them. I agree a wrap...

Possible alternate explanation: 4680s are performing poorly. We already know Tesla has these vehicles charging at around half the rate of 2170/18650 packs. I wouldn’t be eager to introduce a new product line (cybertruck) with a gimped charging rate, particularly a product that is insanely...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

oof what a crappy, misleading chart. the lines represent a percent of a cumulative amount, which massively skews the degree to which CA (and to a lesser degree Tesla) are dominating in the most recent years of the chart. It'd be far more informative to show percentage of sales by year, rather...

I think it’s absolutely ludicrous that people bought the obvious lie that cybertruck was built with anything other than its (ugly) looks as the top priority. It’s going to be difficult and problematic to build. I said that at its announcement, and the next three years will prove me even more...

Not when it's a decline due to a known one-time event, particularly when that event is a major retooling for a new product. That's extremely bullish long-term. anyone who bought in for a short-term quick buck is not a real investor, they're a speculator. if you think Tesla's on the wrong...

i know Tesla uber-bulls are used to complaining about Wall Street being too short-sighted, because that's a valid complaint most of the time, but the reaction to this presentation isn't that. The technical meat of this presentation was all stuff we'd seen before in previous presentations...

i'd love to see a luxury SUV that doesn't look like an egg on wheels, a pickup truck that actually fits in the average garage, a work van (aka the kind of vehicle most actual workers use), and yes the sub-compact "euro-sized" car currently under development. the S3XY lineup is too limited in...

I'm a little surprised at wall street's unsubdued reaction to the earnings call. Personally i heard as many questions as answers. I thought it was a decidedly mixed bag. I'm an optimist so i'll start with the cons, and end on a positive note with the pros: Cons: Cybertruck volume production...

    Elon & Twitter

Musk’s actions have done TREMENDOUS damage to the brand. It’s affecting demand now and in the future. You guys have to wake up and face this reality. It’s overwhelmingly, blindingly evident, and ignoring that fact isn’t doing anyone, including yourselves, any good. For Tesla to succeed, it...

it's because his personal social media feed is clearly infested with conspiracy and white supremacist extreme right QANON garbage. He's been steadily sinking down that hole for several years now, and it's been very evident by the stuff he's been tweeting, and who he's been liking, retweeting...

Pretending only nerds know about the internet is very 1996. It's the primary social interaction most people have on a daily basis. You're deluding yourself if you think his tweets aren't tremendously seen. Every tweet he makes is seen by literally millions of people, and retweeted / shared /...

This is such a weird mental knot to tie yourself in to justify Tesla charging people $3 - $5k for a product they could not use until years after they purchased their vehicle, and even then only in a limited, beta form. Your position is basically “well, the buyers should have KNOWN Elon and...

A thing’s value is not determined by the money and time put into it, it’s worth whatever value it provides. FSD in its current form does not provide anywhere near what it costs. Anyone who bought it say 5 years ago and is now ready to trade in that car got ripped off, and that’s sad. They...

Casting Elon Musk as a god or wizard is the very reason you’ve been unable to make rational investment decisions. it's really hard to accelerate at more than 1.5 G's when your thrust is dependent upon contact with the ground, which you're only being pressed against at about 1 G (disregarding downforce, which is probably negligible on a Model S, particularly under 60mph).

It kinda doesn't matter, since I would advise everyone to do their own math, but I was just counting liquid assets excluding home equity, since we have no desire to sell the house. But people performing the same calculus should run the numbers based on criteria that makes sense for their situation.
