Apologies on adding to an older thread, but this was one of the top results when I was searching and I figured I'd chime in.
From my perspective, I can only see 2 realistic scenarios where you'd want one of these in your Tesla:
1) Your 12 volt is bad... like completely not able to hold a charge
2) Your 12 volt isn't charging (my scenario)
The key thing that isn't really mentioned is this. This isn't a normal situation like an ICE vehicle. Something is wrong and you need Service. BUT, to do this you NEED Power to get your car into TOW MODE. This is what happened to me and for whatever reason my 7 year old battery pack wouldn't push charge to the Tesla (probably because of it's "smarts"). Luckily, the Tow Truck Driver brought one that provided enough power to get the screens back online and get it into Tow Mode and remove the parking brake. It would've been a mess otherwise.
If there was a manual way to put the car into Neutral and remove the parking brake, I don't think there would be a realistic need.
