What's the deal with having to slide the card under the console every time to star the car? Very annoying, can this be turned off?

You either have to use a phone key or key card. If you have a phone key and still have to use the key card your phone is not connecting properly, or has not been configured properly.

I haven’t tried it but I understand that if you use your key card to unlock the car, provided you “start” the car and drive off within 2 minutes, you don’t need to put the key card on the centre console. That is only if you get in the car and wait longer than 2 minutes to drive off - haven’t tried this myself, but this is what I recall.

I haven’t tried it but I understand that if you use your key card to unlock the car, provided you “start” the car and drive off within 2 minutes, you don’t need to put the key card on the centre console. That is only if you get in the car and wait longer than 2 minutes to drive off - haven’t tried this myself, but this is what I recall.

Last time I used my key card to move my car I was able to put it in gear without touching the card to the console.

If you are using the card key and not a phone, this mimicks the "putting the key in the ignition" It also helps assure that if the car is unlocked, someone can't jump in and drive away.

Last time I used my key card to move my car I was able to put it in gear without touching the card to the console.

I think you have like 30 sec (or maybe up to 2 min) to press the brake pedal to start the car without putting the card on the center console after you unlock the car with the keycard.
