I haven’t taken delivery yet and I might be nit picking....but I feel like people who take delivery on LI (at the Manhasset Showroom) are getting sub optimal experiences in comparison to other areas as well as other luxury companies. What I mean is... At Manhasset...someone correct me if I’m wrong....they’re parked outside in the mall parking spaces...with all the other mall patrons driving around...and your car just sitting there waiting to get a potential door ding. At other delivery locations....the cars are kept in a back lot away from general public and then moved into a separate well light delivery bay...where your car is protected from the elements as you inspect the car and the delivery advisor goes over things with you. That’s how it was with my BMW’s and what I would expect from any Luxury car company.

What happens if there is an issue with the car? At other delivery centers that are based at Serivce centers....they can just bring it back and take care of any minor issues the car has right then and there. What happens at Manhasset? Do they have techs and detailers on site?

But my biggest issue, again someone correct me if I’m wrong, but it appears the cars are DRIVEN from the syosset service center over to Manhasset. I know any new car is always driven by someone else...at the factory.....as it’s being transported on and off trailers/trains/boats etc.. When I’m buying a brand new car...I want it to be as low a mileage as possible and I want to be the first one taking in on its maiden voyage lol. But here...the brand new cars are being driven on major roads/highways (most probably even on the sand blasting LIE ).

I was given the option to take home delivery or Manhasset pickup. I live closer to the Syosset service center than Syosset is to Manhasset. I feel like if my car is going to be driven either way and if there are no techs/detailers on site at Manhasset to address any issues.....might as well have them drive it to my house.

Am I crazy? Anyone else feel the same way? Did they used to do deliveries at Syosset?

I just picked up our M3 from Manhasset...

1) Yes, the cars are parked in the general parking lot, however, they did eventually put ours in the charging spaces for our Tutorial.
2) I assume if its not just a detailing issue it has to go back to Syosset or make an appointment for the future.
3) I believe the car is actually driven from the Syosset SC to the Manhasset store, but our car only had 31 miles on it.

Overall it was a decent experience. We arrived before our appointment at 4PM and they were busy. Took about 20 minutes for us to get a Delivery Specialist to bring out paperwork to sign. That may have been our fault (i guess?) as when we arrived I think I checked in with a store sales person and maybe they didn't tell the DS people.

Anyway, I went inside again and talked to a manger and they move it along faster. Once we signed the paperwork (which for us included trade-in docs) we were given a quick tour of the car...here are the charger adapters in the trunk. Ok, get inside, here is how you pair your phones/keys. Good bye!

To be fair, I'm super familiar with the car and had been to the store many times so they probably could sense I didn't need hand holding. I think they were happy about that.

My experience, about a year ago, with the Manhasset delivery team was very positive. They spent considerable time with my wife and me going over every aspect of the car. Yes, the car was in the stalls in the public parking lot, but there were probably 4 cars being delivered at or around the same time. It would have been impossible to get all of those cars into their showroom for delivery.

THey must've made the switch not long after your post, I was here today on Underhill Boulevard near Syosset at parking lot as a Volunteer. They ferry owners from Manhasset, where they legally have to do paperwork there, because that is one of five designated sales locations in New York State. To pickup there vehicle here. (Seentribu Pics)

I felt honored to contribute, some of my highlights were.
One Model 3 Owners tires were low on air, so I broke out my Tesla Tire Repair Kit, and topped off his tires to correct PSI. That way he didn’t have to go to Gas Station, or wait for Service Center to Open, cause its closed on Sunday.

One Model X Owners Interior was dirty, so I handed out my cleaning wipes, and helped wipe down there white interior.

Tesla Employees were of course busy, so answered a whole bunch of questions, gave tips, and helped take Family Photos, to document there experience.

When say ferry...you mean they are driving them over from Manhasset in shuttles? The other poster just picked his up on the16th from Manhasset. Wonder if I should switch back to Manhasset delivery if that means my car won’t be driven.

On another note I got a call from someone at Tesla(local number) that my car isn’t avail for delivery tomorrow because it didn’t arrive!!! He told me it was supposed to arrive on Friday and was hoping it would come today. Couple mins later I get a text that my car is ready for delivery in the Morning. Also.. My IDA in Brooklyn, emailed me yesterday saying my car was on track for delivery Monday. Nonsense. I took off of work tomorrow and had an appointment Tuesday for tints/clear bra.

On second thought....they are having people go to Manhasset to do paperwork and then picking up at syosset. Which means they are making people sign paperwork on a car they haven’t seen or checked out?

I spoke to a DA setting up my delivery debacle which is now 9/28. Told me the process just changed about a week ago. Confirmed that docs are signed at Manhasset and then shuttled over to syosset to pick up the car. The cars are not driven anymore. He said docs are signed at Manhasset... but they are not processed until you drive off. Whether this is temporary during this delivery rush who knows. I think Syosset should just be the designated “dealer” and delivery center.

Just in case you were not aware, New York State only allows Tesla to have 5 stores in the entire state.
Syosset was a store and delivery location before the Brooklyn location took Syosset’s slot.

I’ve been wondering if Syosset was ever a store. I heard of the 5 store limit. But is there a limit on the number of Galleries? If not Manhasset could become a Gallery and Syosset would become a store and handle deliveries.

I was never assigned a Delivery Advisor this time around for my model 3. I had 3 (or 4?) different Inside Delivery Advisor coordinating the scheduling, loans, and paperwork ahead of time. When I got there, just anyone available helped me with the final paperwork signing and got my car.

My Inside delivery advisor who was the only one I had contact with, until my delayed delivery, is at the Tesla headquarter in Brooklyn. What process did you want confirmation of?

Where to pick up the actual vehicle :) Thanks to this thread, I know I have to show up in Manhasset to sign the paperwork etc.
- Is my car going to be there? (According to the dude in Vegas, he is unaware of Underhill Blvd location - but we all k now it exists).
- Am I going to drive myself from Manhasset to Syosset?
- Are they going to drive me to Syosset?
- Are they batching people up for a shuttle bus?
- Will there be coffee?*

*Trick question - I know there will be :)

I'm not concerned really, it'd just be really nice to know some of these things ahead of time. My last Tesla arrived on a truck! That was awesome! (It did get "lost" for two weeks in shipping, but that didn't put me out ).

Just got my confirmation email for tomorrow’s delivery. According to the process laid out in the email. I am going to Manhasset to sign the contracts and final payment. They will then shuttle me along with a team member to an “offsite location”...where I will be escorted to my car and plates will be installed. During the 20min shuttle ride they give an orientation on charging, autopilot, mobile app and any Q&A at the end. They will not submit contracts until you drive off.

No mention where the offsite location is or if they are batching people.

Again...this is a new process as they weren’t doing that a week ago. Before this you went to Manhasset to do contracts and picked the car up there as well(which it appears was driven....not trailered from Syosset to Manhasset)
