Loud vibration when turning on the A/C

Has anyone encountered this issue with the MY when turning on the A/C. Took it in to Tesla to have it checked out and they found nothing abnormal about the sound which I found odd. It is a early production model. Would it be because it doesnt have the ac compressor acoustic cover that the late model have now or something else?

Sounds like the fan motor to me. Not normal considering how mine sounds.

@Precision120 the earliest units did lack a noise-suppressing shroud around the compressor but I don't know if that would account for the noise in your video. I'm almost certain they were offering free retrofit to customers that didn't have the shroud. Either way, I would definitely get that looked at.

Ya I did take it to Tesla yesterday and they found nothing abnormal with it so it was frustrating getting it through their heads.

@Precision120 oh sorry I missed that detail that you'd already taken it in (I'll blame it on the heat wave in BC, LOL). That's very frustrating. What service centre did you go to? (Your location just says "Canada", which is uhm, big.)

Does it make the sound when you run FAN only, with the AC off? If it does, it isn't AC compressor related, but rather a fan motor issue, or something in the squirrel cage fan (assuming it IS a squirrel cage...w/o the squirrel, hopefully)

...but it seems to change in pitch as the fan speed increases? So difficult to evaluate from 1000s of miles away...

Took the cover off and maybe if I secure the cable with a zip tie would cut the noise down.

Sounds like the fan itself to me …. Like a loose bearing allowing the blades to vibrate
