09/08 -- Ordered LR AWD White/Black 18" Aero Wheels No FSD
09/14 -- Changed configuration to LR AWD White/White 18" Aero Wheels No FSD
09/21 -- VIN showed up in source code
09/22 -- Received text to schedule pickup for Wednesday 09/25, signed up for Tesla Insurance
09/25 -- Picked up the car from Palm Springs, asked if they could Uber my fiancé and I there so we could both enjoy the ride back and they said no problem, was ~90 minute Uber ride. The guy that did the orientation did a fantastic job and spent a little over an hour showing us tons of features. Really great experience overall. Oh, and the car is incredible of course! Actually found myself looking forward to driving an hour for work this morning.

Have a wonderful drive. Finishing up my first week of ownership and I have to agree. I love driving to work now.
What a great car. Word of advice though: Don't do the Autopilot right away, it's very scary. I had to build up to it. Day one, drive the car, experiment with chill mode over driving like a banshee; day two experiment with Brake/Hold, especially on a hill; Day three tried out the cruise control and yesterday I finally tried out full Autopilot. Got used to the car pulling to the center of the lane and learned to trust that it wasn't trying to jump into another lane. Overall, well worth the wait. Only problem now, where to park so that it doesn't get dinged. :). By the way my build is 9/2019. Feels great driving a car built just for me, being only a few days old. Incredible experience.

Update:

9/24/19 9:00 pm - Received text with a tentative delivery date set for 9/27/19 and pay the balance prior to the delivery date.
Website showed vin and option to pay the balance.

Update
9/23/19 Call to reschedule tentative date received, I was informed that the car needs to be moved from another dealer and delivery will be 9/30/19 at 5 pm.
9/27/19 call to request earlier delivery, 3:00 PM
9/29/19 Received call and email to confirm delivery and to review payment and in NY if we want the $2k rebate we need to waive the 7 day 1000 mile return policy... ok, $2k rebate it is. And what time do I want to take delivery, 10 am.

Also asked if it comes with update V10 preinstalled, she said that the updates are rolled out and not all vehicles at the same time. My vehicle may not have it yet. If not it will be available for download shortly.

I guess I enter the room now.

10/1 -- Ordered M3 LR AWD - Red with aeros. No FSD (yet).

All was fine but I had to call Tesla because my online "buyer" registration only gave me a choice of Walnut Creek CA, or Fremont CA - not SF, which is the normal place to take delivery from the area I live in. Girl at Tesla support was able to make me able "to receive" at San Francisco.

Given the traffic to get to the stores that I was given to choose from (and much easier to get to SF) - I suspect that they had cars (close to) what I wanted and were going to call try to get me take them. I know that Walnut Creek and Fremont had "similar cars" last night. Sorry, I'd rather wait. Being 65 miles from the factory will probably shave a little time off my wait too.

Perhaps around Halloween?

We are close in orders. I ordered my second 3 9/26 and have a tentative delivery of 10/9. Did get my VIN in code immediately after I placed the order.

Just found out the MVPA document is handled by another department. The Delivery specialist said all my requirements are good, just need to wait for the docs to be generated and sent to me.
I'd like to close the deal and take delivery on time (Sat., 5th) but won't be entirely disappointed if it gets pushed back a few days.

It seems like there is little to no inventory when I look on Tesla’s site - when compared with what I saw 2 weeks ago. And I live 65 miles from Fremont, so the extra cars there show up in my search.

Does Tesla just shut everything down at end of quarter to clean out inventory? Or are they pulling cars off the assembly line as I speak?

This is all very strange. I’m not saying that it’s bad - just strange.

I think there was a surge of purchase these past few weeks due to the Q3 crunch. The rep I talked to in the gallery said the wait for M3 may push to more than 2 weeks because of this.

My M3 is an inventory and was not on their website. As I recall, the rep showed me their list of inventories and she was not able to show me that many. This was in 9/27.

The surge of purchases was for all vehicles made and put in inventory before 10/1 - and it should be a continuous process. I don't think we can guess whether it will be longer, because I assume they didn't shut down the factory for quarter end! If they wanted inventory off the books, they would hold the release of new cars into inventory of anything new and try to use up inventory. Only a senior exec at Tesla will know how they handle logistics and other things.

What I do know is that regardless of what happened in Q3, Tesla is going to want to bang them out in Q4. Even meeting their numbers in Q3 is going to make it more necessary to keep up sales up in Q4. One good quarter will do little to keep investors happy after a while. It just raises expectations. It's also an accounting game that we will never understand.

It's now Oct 3, and they must be producing lots of Model 3's again. Bottom line is that we don't have a clue what to expect. It definitely wont be 2 weeks - but 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks - it's all a crap shoot. Personally (having ordered on 10/1) I am going to be optimistic for 4 weeks, but expect 6 weeks. 2-3 weeks would be a welcome surprise, but I will not hold my breath!

I would double double check if buying anything that everything currently is in inventory. There could be a disproportionate amount of "delivery rejected vehicles", etc. I waited until there were no vehicles in my configuration within 200 miles to order. I'd rather take the risk of one off the line later. Until Sept 30, they did have similar red Model 3 LR AWD's showing online. The next day (probably an update of the database) - they had none. So I won't hear from Tesla for a while.
